Is yescomusa motor same as Golden Motor?

Postby Henry111 » Sat May 26, 2012 8:31 pm

The kit sold by yescomusa looks very much like the older style Golden Motor. Does anyone know for sure?

There's a part number etched on all the motors of the kits I've bought from them. Doing a search on that number reveals it to be a GM pn. The specs also match the specs for the GM 901/902 motors sold by GM. So I can only assume they are GM motors, or second sourced to their specs. I know they'll take a beating. The 48V 1000W one I've had for over a year never gets hot and I've put up to 4000w into it climbing some really steep but short (1/8 mile) hills. They may be an older design, but the 3 I've used 2-500W, 1-1000W, have been solid. They have to be to move my 275lb fat butt. I'm not sure who makes the controllers. I got an infinion EB215-A-5 controller with my 48V 1000W kit but they've changed that now to a newer model of some kind now. All controllers were 30A.
Mongoose 26" FS MTB bike $99, yescomusa.com 48V 1000W rear hub kit $276, Hua Tong 72V 40A controller $35, 10ah 24s lipo $275=40+mph, range=45 miles @20mph

Hi Henry,

This isn't really the best place for this topic. I moved your previous thread on this to Ebikes General Discussion. Did you miss that?

conhis, mxus, 9C, golden motor 'pro kit' motor, are all generally the same motor with different cases.

The girlfriend bike: 350W front MAC on a 700c Trek.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB
The Bus: ??? on a 'da bomb' cargo bike frame

Pro-tips for noobs: Avoid BMS Battery like the plague | Charge RC Lipos to 4.15v, stop discharging at 3.5-3.6v | Use torque plates/arms! | Rear mounted hubs are always best

wesnewell, thanks for such detailed answer. I'm glad to hear the yescomuse is a good motor, especially at such a reasonable price.

How about the new one they've got (Magic Pie 3?) - won't the controller overheat because it's inside? Btw, can't figure out the attached MP specs - does it say that the peak efficiency of 79% was reached on the 66th try (1st column) at 48V and 9.99 Amps?

Here's the specs on the 48V 1000W motor. you decide.

I know they had overheating problems with earlier internal controllers. Don't know about the MP3. Personally, would never want an internal controller.
