m750 tidalforce short person question

Postby tav » Sun Jun 03, 2012 3:39 am

I bought a m750 on craigslist because it was a decent deal, after having it shipped to me i realized im to short :S
when im standing over the bike I have no clearance between my crotch and the tube, so sitting on it even with the lowest seat setting seems to high for me.
I thought i would fit according to what the internet says but i guess for 5'9" ive got short legs.

i was wondering if it could use 24" inch wheels on it so it was ever so slightly lower to the ground
would i run into any issues? or should I look for a new bike and use the tidalforce hardware on it even though i wanted a folder?
any input/assistance is helpful.

thanks

It wouldn't change your seat height, from pedals to seat, but it would lower your bar about an inch.

To change your pedal to seat height, shorter cranks would make the bottom of the stroke closer to the seat. And choose a seat that has a low profile, if yours is tall from the rails to the top of the seat.
THE LIPO RULES. NEVER ABOVE 4.3V NEVER BELOW 2.7V DON'T PUNCTURE

Your feet shouldn't be able to touch the ground when you're sitting on the seat on a normal style bike. Your leg should be mostly fully extended when the pedal is at it's lowest point. your motion on the pedals should be similar to walking, and you wouldn't try to walk far when squatting.

The stand over height is semi-important. but its standing over the center bar. There is some risk of falling over when stopped if you can't plant both feet on the ground, or injuring your man parts if you should fall off a pedal, but the risk is low. I can't stand over a couple of my bikes, and I'm 6 foot tall and long legged. I consider it a minor issue.

Smaller wheels may help, or may be of no real use. A 24" will only lower it 1 inch. What really matters is how comfortable you are with the bike.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.
