I'm looking for a major tire upgrade, with DH tubes and big kevlar tires. Rims are 26in weinmann DH39s and are 2.35"

possible tire 2

eventually i'll be putting in automotive run-flat goop.

Where did you buy the DH39's. I've been searching for weeks for a 26" 32h DH39 rim. I'm running a 36h DH39 for the front that I bought as a complete wheel. Great rim for larger tires. I'm using CST Cyclops 26x2.40.
Oh, I'm using XLC tubes 26x2.3/2.75. Never had a flat with them but I don't ride off road hardly at all.

That's a bizarrely wide rim.
That being said, the most flatproof tires in the world - those made by schwalbe ( marathon plus / mondial ) and specialized ( armadillo ) max out at about 2.25" or so.

If you want bigger tires, then yes, you need a thick tube, a tire liner, and goop.
But i did just get done pulling sharp crap out of a flat downhill 24" wheel with goop and an extra thick tube, which had gone flat rather quick out here in Utah ( goat head / metal shard country )..

This is the kind of crap my tires pick up in Utah after a few dozen miles.
Only the schwalbe marathons and specialized armadillo have been able to roll over this stuff without incident so far.

It's only 32mm inside width. It's not wide at all for a 2.4" (61mm) wide tire. No different than using a 24mm rim with a 1.95" tire except it's a lot stronger and truer. And it allows a wider surface contact for batter traction and less tire wear in the center.

Most puncture proof tires weren't meant to be stretched out that far, they are designed with the extra layer of protection in the center of the tread. Stretch out the tire too much and you will start having a problem with sidewall punctures, unfortunately.

24mm inner rim diameter is about as big as you want to go, if you wanna use the highly flat resistant 2.0"-ish tires i mentioned.

Amazon, niagara bike shop (cant remember name) is the only source of 36h dh39s i know and i cant find any other sizes or H count. very good deal on rims anyway considering ive tried to destroy them on numerous occasions.

Yeah, that's where I got the front wheel. But they don't carry just the rim at all and not in 32h. Weird since they carry DHL65, 80, and 100 which are 57-91mm wide. The DHL42 is only 35mm wide, but they don't carry it either. Guess I'll find a suitable rim one of these days, but don't want anything less than 32mm or more than 35mm inside width. For those that think these are too wide, all I can say is if you haven't tried one with wider tires, don't knock it. Wider is better. I'm tempted to order them in bulk from Weinmann and then sell them on ebay.

that would be amazing, ive been dying to get them in rim only. for customers i buy the DH39 wheels in bulk and lace them with hubs and JRH 12g sapims. They're considerably cheaper than any other DH rim the bike store offers, and are well tested. An ebay supplier for wide weinmann rims would be perfect for ebikers, nothing on ebay is drilled for 12g and few are undrilled (so you can drill your own) and the price cant be beat

These are the tubes I use with my CST Cyclops tires. I don't use goop.

I feel like an idiot. I don't know why I thought my hub motor was 32h when in fact it's 36h. Just ordered another DH39 front wheel and I'll use the rim off of it. I was actually looking at hub motors with 36 holes when I saw mine. Looked like more than 32 and when I counted it was 36h. Then went to my bike and counted the spokes and sure nuff, it is 36h. I have no idea why I had 32h stuck in my brain. I was actually considering getting a new 36h hub motor. I really hate to admit this.:)

For those of you that think this rim is too wide, check the recommended tire widths here. 1.75/2.125, and I'm using 2.4 tires.

yeah i was wondering why you needed a 32, pretty much every single chinese hub made for bikes is 36H. that rim is really awesome, though it does feel wrong that i cant re-use those 12 gauge spokes :( have to spend 40 bux for a set of sapims. hopefully an ebay seller will get together some wide DH rims.

Rims that are 29 to 34mm inside width are perfect for DH tires. I have purchased some Mavic Double Track and Alexrim DX32 for cheap, end of season sales in local shops. I had finished the summer with only one spare rim left in the garage, a Mavic 729 that is one of my favorites but hard to find in 36H. Tire and tube width have to match, the brand is a personal choice. I usually buy the tube and the tire of the same brand together, but any DH tube is good. On my dirt bikes now: Kenda Nevegal Stick-E 2.7, Michelin 2.8 tubeless, Halo Contra (Duro) 3.0, Nokian Gazzaloddi 3.0

I bought 100 166mm spokes some time back. I'm thinking that will be perfect for the DH39 rim as the original were 158mm for that deep v rim.

ended up buying these
