Hey guys. I wanted to check the compatibility on the BBSHD for my Santa Cruz Chameleon.

It looks like I have an external bottom bracket?

I found this video on youtube and he says that he wishes he went with the 100mm kit. But that kit is for fat tire bikes and I'm worried it will be too wide. However he did have to use spacers to make this one work.

Any insight you guys could provide would be incredibly helpful!

The BBSHD will work fine on that frame. Get the size that matches your bottom bracket shell's width, because the BBSHD's chainline is already pretty wide of center. But where are you going to put the battery? You'd have an easier time starting with a bike that has better mounting options.

Plus, that's a very expensive cassette to be chewing up fast. And you will chew it up fast.

I think you should keep your nice bike nice, and get a less fashionable MTB with a roomier frame for your battery, rack mounting points, and 8-speed drivetrain. Then use inexpensive SunRace 11-40t CSM680 cassettes if you feel like you still need lots of gear range (hint: you probably won't).

Were you able to build this?
What was the chainring you used? Did the stock 46T fit the bike?
