IV been looking up heated clothing for a while seeing as it's getting cold and I don't want to stop riding. So I've been seeing people essentially short out a battery with vary long wires and some math so my question is when using lipos and useing this method is it safe? Not only safe but is the lipo being damaged as well?

My heated coat uses a self-contained battery that keeps the elements running for about an hour.
The coat cost about $60 and came with an internal temperature regulator.
Why mess with wires and external batteries?

I made my own heated jacket powered by LiPoly;

The heat is a bit localized, but it doesn't get that cold here and mod'ing the jacket was cheap and easy.

Well I run 12s on my ebike made up of 6s packs I also have 3s 5ah 25c lipos that I fly with so I would prefer to use the 3s packs any suggestions on cheep wire guage and type I have a inline fuse I could use for added safety I would like to get close to 2 hours of use per charge at 12v 5ah any suggestions would be greatly appreciated plan on makeing a jacket when I gather enough information.

Some other threads about heated clothing that may help:

There's some other threads not in the above that are in the list here:

though not all of the results are relevant.

I guess you didn't read my post, but I use 2) 3S/3000 or 4000 mAh bricks. One in ea. inside hand-warmer pocket powering a grid in ea. inside chest pocket. I haven't timed how long they would last, but it is many hr.s, at least 6.
My little grids don't draw many Watts, but it's the nature of any kind of electricaly heated clothing to not be power hungary. After all, we are just heating up very fine (filament) wires. And even a sm. LiPoly brick contains so much energy.

We always encourage folks to fill out their profile for reasons like this thread. One of the first questions that came to mind, is where does he live, to get an idea of how much warmth you need.

My apologies it's updated, can you provide a link to find those heating grids still trying to learn how this site operates
Yes, it was Sparkfun.
I bought 4 and joined two for ea. pocket.

I bought 4 spark fun, but never hooked them up. This winter I will use them in a scarf for in front of my chin and mouth. While a T-shirt will have vaping wire stitched in, same with gloves. Another thing came to me, ski goggles!

Thanks for the link seeing as there rated for 5 volts and the video explains that they can be used at 12v(3s) would I wire them up all parallel or will it not matter I'm ordering 6 of them hopefully I can fit 2 to my handlebar grips. While I wait for shipping I picked up 2 Zippo hand warmers from Walmart for 12 each $! I don't like the whole Zippo fluid smell when there not lit but work great 2 in both my front inside pockets i would much rather use electric heat but it's holding me over for not hasn't gotten too cold yet ( I would like to get a 50v to 12v Stepdown so I have the option of running it off my monster 12s 32ah ebike battery and not have a extra lipo in the bike just for the grips)

Don't use the Sparkfuns for your grips, use these;

I did one side(the other has my half-twist throttle) and power it w/ another sm. 3S brick. I had to switch to Grab-On foam grips to make it work. But I really like the grips in their own right.
