I had a 350 Watts E-Bike with 48 v 22.3 Ah battery pack, that provided me with at least 40 km of mileage. Now I want to buy a bike of 1000 Watts. So my question is, how much mileage a 72 V 12 Ah battery pack would give, or a 60 V 12 Ah battery pack would give?

350 W, 48 V, 22.3 Ah= 40 km

1000 W, 60 V, 12 Ah= ?

1000 W, 72 V, 12 Ah= ?

Remember that a 48 V battery is made up with four, 60 B with five, and 72 V with six 12 V batteries (sealed lead-acid). Please answer this question as soon as possible, because I am in a distress. Thanks in advance
 
Motor power is probably less of a factor than speed. How fast do you plan on riding? Riding at 30mph will use much more power than going 15mph. An example of a Zero e-motorcycle might get 100 miles of range riding in the city, but increase your speed to 70mph and the range drops to only 40 miles.

You can figure out how long your battery will last if you divide the total watts by the average power used. 72v x 12ah = ~850 watt hours. So if you are using 850 watts to maintain a certain speed, then you can ride about an hour until you are out of power. But if you are going slower (say 425w of avg power) then you can ride for about 2 hours.
 
Its mostly speed that dictates your draw on the battery. Then that draw for a particular speed, combined with actual size of the battery, gives you max range.

To really get an understanding, you need to learn about watt hours, and watt hours per mile.

Lets take the 60v 12 ah battery for example. If lithium, it will dish out at least 11 ah or more, so lets call it 12 ah.

60v times 12 ah = 720 watt hours.

Watt hours per mile depends on speed. More speed means a higher draw on the battery, this is primarily wind resistance. For bicycles, some general wh/mi numbers can be used. 20 mph generally takes at least 20 wh/mi. 25 mph takes about 35wh/mi A typical 60v e bike though, can hit 35 mph. That could take as much as 50 or 60 wh/mi. And pedaling will no longer help, at 35 mph. So while you might pedal up 5 of those wh/mi at 20 mph, its not happening at 35 mph, because of gearing. ( you'd be clown pedaling)

So your range would be anywhere from 36 miles pedaling your ass off going slow, to 12 miles hauling ass.
 
How much battery do I need?

Watt Hours (wh) required per mile on flat terrain with no wind. MTB
20mph=21wh
30mph=40wh
40mph=66wh
50mph=103wh
You can cut that in half or more with a recumbent bike/trike. You do the math as to what you need for your mileage.

Well that is refreshing to note that you get 40km out of 48V 22.3Ah, I have 48V and should be 16Ah new but I think its more like 11Ah now and I get 18km. I did a test ride today and rode 16.5km and it was still going strong.
I play on the motor simulator as well as trip simulator at www.ebikes.ca and well I get no where near those numbers, and no I dont w.o.t. I just cruise.


20mph or 32kph is about my cruising speeds.

I put 152mm cranks on my BBS02 (most of my bikes have 185mm or longer) so I could better follow the motor into its upper RPM range. Sometimes it feels pretty clownish.

High cadence pedaling is doable. It just looks and feels sort of dumb.
