dear knuckles,
could you let me know what is the best controller for a puma geared motor, i have actually a kelly and it's far from what i expected from it, i have a ping V3 48V 10A, my bike is a twin motor, one bafang jewel in front with lipos, and i don't feel a real difference with my puma.....

Best regards from france

EzVLO,

Let's define your question here ...

1) Looks like you have a 2x2 ebike ... Rear Puma and Front Bafang.
(This in itself is very cool.)

2) I assume you have a) two controllers and b) one throttle ???

3) You paid "big bucks" for a Kelly controller that runs the rear Puma motor ???

4) You are asking ... Hey! WTF ??? Where is "the power" ???

Ok ... so here is the deal.

The controller makes NO DIFFERENCE at 48 volts.
This is because your amp draw is so low at that voltage.
Maybe climbing hills you might see some difference.
But on the flat ... 6-fet controller and Kelly do the EXACT SAME THING!

Sell the Kelly to someone who can use it.
Buy TWO 6-fet units w/ irfb4110 fets.
Wire two controllers to one throttle and one battery pack.
Bump battery pack to 84 volts nominal.

THEN ENJOY YOUR NEW WORLD!

:D :D :D :D :D

Knuckles has the tech issues in hand... I just wanted to say:
Freaking nice build, very clean and great lines!

Knucles,
Are you saying to series the power hookups on the 6fet controllers?
thnx T

I don't think so. I think it would be to parallel both the battery connections on the controllers, and the throttle connections (except use 5V from only one of them). Then use the separate motor connections--one to front and the other to rear.

Parallel the bat leads to the two controllers. Two controllers can share the 5V throttle wire. Does no harm. 5V is 5V.

A 10Ah Ping battery might struggle supplying the current needed for the Mac/Puma motor. Ideally you would want about 30A or more and that's 3C. That's a big ask for the Ping IMO.
