Predator 50/6 Vs. Predator 37?

Postby socalfusions » Tue May 01, 2012 8:32 pm

After being impressed by the power of the Predator 37 http://www.plettenberg-motoren.com/UK/Motoren/aussen/Predator37/Motor.htm, I came across the Predator 50/6 http://web.mac.com/goransson/Watts_up/Blogg/Poster/2011/6/13_PREDATOR_50_6.html. Is this a large upgrade from the Predator 37 and do any other brushless motors exist that can compare to the power and torque of the Predator 50/6 and still weigh around 5 pounds?

The link I posted was the only existing page that had any info on the Predator 50/6 and it was very limited. I just got a response from a Plettenberg employee and they said it is for sale but that they do not have any data online, likely because it is rarely purchased I would assume. It seems to be a viable choice for 40% scale rc airplanes, which is the only thing I've seen it on, the video below shows the predator 50/6 in action, it's a beast!

I was interested on their motors as well ,
I wrote them an email asking for more details , such as continuos power levels and other points .
No answer !
looks to me like a good motor for airplanes , with a use limited to 10-15 minutes .
I wonder how they will perform with a longer working time ??
I am a bit septic .

got recently a reply from them , on the Predator 37.
18 weeks delivery time
they say that it is definitely NOT suitable for e-bike .
and cooling is a critical issue , must have a constant a big stream of air through the motor.

end of a dream
