Recent posts are a bit of a coincidence - I also just dug mine out and attached connectors to do some testing. Incredibly handy.

Here's a printable version that I believe reflects the procedures and questions in the thread to date. The content and pic are pilfered from posts by others :D

Hi Folks,

I finally got an opportunity to try this tester, and I think it worked well.

E bike kit controller, and moter hooked up well. Lights spin with wheel rotation.

5v light blinks on, but no spinning lights from controller. I am more confident that this controller is not sending out a signal anymore. Sigh.

Who has 48 volt, 500 watt controllers, 120 degree timing that would fit onto a older E bike kit motor. the one we have had three speed option, as well as the throttle.

Thanks, Josh K.

Goto ebikes.ca they can versions with and without the need for hall sensors so you should be able to get something there.

Fast shipping and service that is second to none.

Along as it is brushless type then they will have one that will work. If it is a brushed motor then I'm not sure

Can this also test a sensorless motor controller?

Hi Jateureka,

I have sent you a PM with solutions. :)

Best Regards,

Hi Lyen,

I recieved my tester a few days ago, thanks. I hope you are getting your next batch with markings in English - it seems a shame to see an otherwise very professional tool made to look un-professional with bits of sticky tape all over it.

Anyway, I have a (Bafang) 8FUN motor like Jateureka and would be interested to hear what you had to say to him about his problem. I expect others would do too. So can you post your PM'ed reply to him for all to see, please?

My controller - a YiyunTech YK85S - displays a very odd behaviour when connected to the tester. I have tested the throttle separately and it works normally - I have attached a video showing this (sorry they are upside down)...

... and here is a movie of the tester when connected to the controller I have which is not working with my Bafang. I have connected power and the throttle...

I would be interested to hear your comments and/or suggestions as well as anyone else's, for that matter.

Hello Martin,

Thanks for the videos, I see that your throttle is fully functional. As for your controller from Yiyuh, can you tell me if your controller is hall sensors equipped and was working before? I assumed it does automatically detect the phase spacing angle either 60 degree or 120 degree. The Bafang motor uses 60 degree hall spacing angle. If your controller does not automatically select the hall spacing amg;e then it may or may not provide proper rotation sequence to the motor. It would be best to you ask the seller who sold you the controller to see if it does have the function.

Regards,
Lyen

Hi Lyen,

Sorry I did not see your post earlier.

Yes, the original controller had hall effect wires which were connected to the motor along with the 3 power wires (yellow, blue and green).

To be honest I gave up with the YiyunTech YK85S controller and, after using your helpful tester to test the wheel, bought another controller which works fine with my old motor - so no motor problems, then.

I'd like to mend my original controller some time... but that's another story. Regards, MW.
