Can someone give range on a 60v 30ah battery in the proposed 24in. Wheel

Which battery chemistry (or IR?)
Which motor?
What Speed?
What incline?
What headwind?
What rolling resistance on your tires?
Drag Coefficient in your preferred seating position?
How aggressive are you on the throttle?

Answer those - none of which are dependant on the frame or size of the wheel - and you can estimate range with accuracy. If it is 30ah Pb, then you can only discharge 50%, but LiFePO4 80%, so right now we don'e even know how many watt hours you get out of the pack. Assuming Lithium to 80% DOD, the pack has 1800wh and you get 1440 usable. I ballpark 40whm for my duty cycle with hubbies, so I'd get about 36 miles from such a pack.

YMMV, but the frame and wheel diameter are not significant variables in calculating range.

Max, I would be interested, but not without a full suspension. Am I wrong, or does this frame have rear suspension?

It seems like it would be a lot less trouble to just import some of these frames direct from China. They seem to have everything we are looking for. Seeing as they are already in production, they might be cheap.

I see some impracticalities with your battery arrangements. You have shown in the images both the Headaways and 'Thundersky' type packs.

The problem being that there is very limited room to work on connecting cells together (especially in the eclosure behind the seat). There is also no detail on how your planning on holding those cells firmly in place, so they don't short out against the frame. There is also no detail on controller mounts or mounting anything else, such as a BMS if your using large format cells. The frame itself is overly complex.

You need to make one of these, ride it, re-design it, and then build another, ride it and tweak it untill it's as good as it can be. Then you will be ready to start marketing them.

I agree with Willow because of the space required to connect everything also so things don't get shorted and wires don't get pinched allot of things have to be thought out i like the space idea in general so it can accommodate a large battery pack Max i think you have a winner after you work out a few minor details and testing the frame with some popular motors used on here cause some would like to commute with more speed and more torque and maybe more powerful motors question is would the dropouts hold up we wont know without so some real testing

I see you updated pictures in 1st page OP. Look like you got full suspension. FREAKING AWESOME! I like it very much and Please tell me which motor are you going use? In picture, It looked like you are going use MAC geared motor?

hi all,

i updated the 3rd pic ( labelled pic4) it is shown with headway 15AH cells to form a 72v30ah pack,,, for 2160 WH which theoretically should give the bike a 60 mile range (100kms) without any pedal,,,based on 35 wh per mile,,,,that pic in reality shows a true set-up with headways as opposed to the other pic which just shows that in fact there is much more room than needed for a 72v set-up....in reality this is the maximum amount that we will recommend in batteries to be set up,,,as it is way plenty in terms of speed and range,,,,as for those wondering about the wiring,,, there is plenty of room for this,,,in fact it is designed so that one would wire the pack on the outside of the bike and easily put it in place once assembled,,,in case people don't know; the side rails are in fact removable with hex bolts,,,as for keeping the packs in place and to stop the battery leeds from shorting of course it goes with out saying proper shielding such as plastic non conductive encasement will be used and of course we will devise a proper holding device to keep the cells from rambling all over the place.

Hi Max,

First i want to say i love the New look of it it is a better look than the old original CAD drawing , However most of us would like something that looks like a regular bike "i personally don't care " but in my state some cops turn a blind eye to a fast bike but we all know that there is always a dick head amongst the !! PIGS !! that don't have any other thing to do but harass people so for legal purposes will this bike have a VIN# and other information so it can be registered as a GAS, carbon producing,earth killing piece of sh** moped cause my state don't want to recognize an electric bike for what is really is ? I just don't want to have to be in a situation where i'll have to quote federal law cause they get pissed when they don't know if its true or not so i made a print out of the federal law just in case they try to take things too far! I'm in for a new bike and long as i have the funds LOL.

@darkshirikens: Note that the federal law means very little, as it only defines an ebike for manufacturers. It has nothing to do with whether they are even legal within any state or municipality, as each of those is free to define things how they wish, choose to not define them at all, or to make them entirely illegal if they choose.

So if your state has defined them as illegal, or calls them all mopeds, then that's just the way it is unless you can get people in your state to band together to change that.
