Large Screen CA - $120 shipped - Free calibration service!

Postby methods » Sat Sep 03, 2011 4:28 pm

I have a batch of Large Screen Direct Plug-in CA's that I am offering up for $120 shipped to the lower 48 states.

(link removed)
PM for PayPal address

I am offering a special service:
If you would like to ship your controller to me I can calibrate the CA to your controller as well as set up any special functions that you like (current limit, speed limit, wheel diameter, etc). This service is free of charge. You just ship me your controller via USPS (~$5 - $10), I will perform all the calibration procedures, then ship your controller back to you with the CA free of charge.

Cant beat that with a stick... :)

CA.jpg
CA.jpg (34.98 KiB) Viewed 1735 times

Now... I am not even going to operate your controller or open your controller to perform this calibration so I am not offering to repair controllers, swap mosfets, install caps, install CA taps, or anything like that. I am just offering to measure the shunt in your controller and program the CA to work perfectly.

If you are "post office impaired" I can offer another service: If you can pack your controller in a box and weigh it I can send you a shipping label and all you have to do is set the box out front and the postal worker will take it away. For this service I will charge $15.

Of course, your controller needs to have a 6 pin CA connector for me to be able to perform this service.
Here is how I do it:

1) I plug the CA into your controller
2) I attach a power supply to your controller (typically 48V)
3) I set the iCharger constant current source (Foam Cut) to 20A
4) I attach the (+) iCharger output to your main ground
5) I attach the (-) iCharger output to one of your phase leads
6) I turn on the controller to power the CA
7) I activate the iCharger to drive the constant current
8) I note the value displayed on the CA
9) I turn off the current source

10) I calculate your new CA setting and program it
11) I then repeat the test to confirm settings are +/- 0.1A

This procedure works by driving a constant current through the main ground, through the shunt, through the body diode of the main fets, then out the phase lead. Credit for this procedure goes to Justin from ebikes.ca

International shipping will be $8 to anywhere in the world vis USPS Priority Mail.
(that is calculated by taking the $13 flat rate shipping cost and subtracting $5 for domestic shipping)

My offer stands for international customers but shipping back and forth will be a lot more expensive since I can not fit both a CA and a controller into a Small Flat Rate Box.

That's clever and needed.

Hooking up the locked wheel function wire is worth doing too. Our bikes are starting to get too heavy to carry away for too far. I think it's cool when the bike fights back when trying to move it.

They may have closed for Burning Man.

Btw.... ebikes.ca is not offering free shipping and calibration, I am  (I guess I should remove the link)
By all means, if you want to buy one from them I think you should.

If you want to buy one from me then PM.

Do you only have the direct plug in versions, and none of the stand alone?

At the moment I am only offering the direct plug in models. On my next shipment I will order a variety.

I suggest ordering directly from ebikes.ca for a Stand Alone

When might this next shipment arrive? $150 + shipping too much for poor little me. $150 shipped or less I'd have to save up for!

If you order the wrong one you can still make it work! You just have to open it up and change the wireing inside. Eg if you have a unit for a wheel speed sensor you can cut that off and run ths yellow wire to one of your hall signals. As it says on their websight all big screen Cycle Analysts are basicly the same they just have different wires solder to the curcit board!

Man when they say big screen, they mean BIG SCREEN! I might even be able to read this without my glasses!

Arrived today in perfect shape. Excellent packaging.

Now I have to rewire my bike. I'm going to move the controller away from the batteries.

Let me know if you need any assistance with the other settings.
I wrote the calibration value for your shunt on the bottom of the controller.

No, just take the manual with you in case you want to set anything along the way.

* mph vs kph
* wheel diameter (it is set for 26")

The LVC, current limit, and speed limit should not trigger.

P.S. I think I am pretty much out of CA's. I have a few but they are committed to buyers who are waiting on 40A controllers. I will let ya'll know when they are back in stock.

Ok -
I will have the Direct Plug in CA's back in stock by Monday at the latest. I will continue to take orders with the understanding that packages may not ship until Tuesday at the latest.

I have ordered 3 of the Stand Alone units. I hardly ever get them and they will sell instantaneously - so get one if you want one.
