"The government" is not real. It's just a construction that many, almost all folks participate in, where you're robbed and the money goes about 90% into things you don't support, and these things are carried out in the most wasteful method possible.

"The state" also doesn't exist. It's so when you actually do nothing wrong (like speeding etc), they can have a pretend entity that you offended. An imaginary thing can't suffer harms.

Lawyers, of all types and kinds, are empowered by imaginary things, enforced by the disillusioned and misled, and are universally a force of evil, though I think many don't realize it.

Simply acknowledge only what it real, reject and ignore the rest, and live your life to enhance the experiences of yourself and others.

Ultimately, and always, nothing else in life matters a bit more than the experiences you have, and share with others.

If for some reason you think there is more than the experiences, think about it for a while.

Rich, poor, powerful, powerless, none of it matters even a tiny bit, in fact it generally results in less and/or worse experiences at money and power accumulate, making it counter to the real goal, and the other goals are all false or pointless.
For ebike parts, don't be a douche, buy from http://www.ebikes.ca or http://www.MethTek.com

Of the 20 that Matthew picked up on the first order all came out great. We ordered just after the prices dropped on the USA warehouse too. I believe 12 of them have been used in an 18S 4P pack and the other 8 may be slated for a 12S 4P pack - but not sure yet.

If anyone wants us to middle man lipo for them I suppose it would go like this:

We pay $906.20 for 20 x 6S 5000mAh 20C Turnagy
Shipping is $53.26
So that is $959.46 which works out to $47.97/pack
Lets call that $50 / pack

Shipping to the continental US is about $10 for a medium flat rate box and you can fit a lot in there (yes, hobby king is screwing us on shipping in the US... but that is the price of doing business).

We have to take the time to cycle the packs, we have $1k tied up in lipo at any given time, we have to pack them for you, and then there is the customer service and risk of issues (like lost packages etc).

To make it worth the risk we would have to mark those packs up by $10 each - so if you are building a 12S 10Ah pack it will cost you an extra $50 shipped to your door. We could give you a pretty little birth certificate with each pack though 8) showing how it performed when tested. (packs these days are serial numbered from the factory)

I suppose to make that up we could offer a discount on our HVC / LVC / Parallel boards - anyone buying the lipo from us would get their boards at some sort of discount - like $5 off each board + $5 off HVC breaker.

Just thinking out loud.... This is really about putting Lipo in peoples hands but the more I do this the more I understand why it is important to charge for our services.... because if we dont we go crazy and broke :)

Methods, what a bargain! I ran your costs through an old bid an proposal cost estimator I had laying around... The sell price for a single battery came out $117.51 :P What a hoot! I love what the "system" does to costs.

Probably just about right too - seeing that reminded me of the 3% PayPal fees we forgot to include.

I don't need no stinkin, "Born on," date. I just want lipo, lots of lipo. So you're askin about $60. Per cell. That would be reasonable to ensure, tested good, packs, from a U.S. member. Just means a longer wait for me cash wise.

Matthew has just finished building a pack for a customer.
I think I heard him talking about ordering 50 packs once that transaction is done.

Methods I'm looking for someone with a spot welder to make some packs for me, if you know someone that handles really well A123 cells let me know. I'd also like to purchase some lipo from you at a given time for some of my projects..

Postby BATFINK » Tue Feb 07, 2012 6:28 pm

hello Methods,
great idea. I'm using Ping battery just now but need to get into Lipo for the lighter weight and improved performance but a bit apprehensive at building my own pack, it would be great to have a custom pack built. Just now i have 48 volt 20ah Ping with a Mac 8t kit, what sort of pack could you make to be the same as this with regards to performance, would it be possible to send a battery box and have you fill it with batteries and send it back? I would also be happy with a pack and just find a box to work around it. Is Lipo giving you more power and lighter weight for the same amps in Lifepo4? i.e. a 48 volt 20 amp lipo pack versus a 48volt 20 amp lifepo4 pack? Also what sort of price would this be?

I suggest contacting http://www.jozztek.com/shop/
Jozzer can definitely build a bad ass pack.

I would buy from you even just for the quality control.
A turnkey lipo pack would be even better.
Im kicking myself for going 8ah packs. They are too stinking big.

so per 5ah chunk
based on your 50$ pack, 50$ lvc/hvc, 50$ breaker pricing.

12s 50v 5ah 100$ | 10ah 350$ | 15ah 500$ | 20ah 650$
18s 75v 5ah 150$ | 10ah 450$ | 15ah 650$ | 20ah 850$
errr plus shipping and slave labor.
Is this right? My math is crap.

This is a GREAT idea! :D

Wish I had your courage methods, but I've been warned away from shipping batteries as a business with out a huge amount of liability insurance, so I'm glad you are able to do this!
Thank you Justin_Le for your selfless act of kindness! We all are in your debt.

Hi Methods,
I'm interested in 4 -6S packs to make 12S2P battery pack for my ebike project. I've already had a bad experience once with hobbyking. It would be nice to the the guarantee of working packs delivered to me :D

I like the Idea....but batteries are a pain for shipping for non-locals.

but how about making a lightweight battery holder with the the electrics enclosed and pigeon holes for the batteries
(like those funny old square holders that took 4 AA and had a nine volt battery terminal on the top.)

Then people could source batteries and you don't have liability.

Love the movie and that quote, one of the finest!

At first, I thought this service would not fly, but the more I think about it, the more I realize not everyone wants to deal with HK and the waiting etc.

I hope you are able to get a bulk deal from HobbyKing for the Turnigy packs.

Everything on the Methtec website but batteries. I just ordered a frame bag from Canada, and would rather give my money to Methy than HK. Is there a supply yet?

I think methods has not made an answer on this yet, but I would guess there's no chance he'd be supplying HK LiPo. To make it worth something he's have to test them all, and his time would add up, and then the costs of the LiPo would be much higher than HK. And liabilities dramatically increase when supplying lipo.

Eitherway, your money would be going to HK or maybe HK and Methods, because for LiPo I don't know of any other good and affordable source.

This would change if methods ever gets into supplying some of the cooler chemistries. Still, doesnt seem up his alley of interests.

(>.< let me continue to reply on behalf of methods. Sorry, he can speak for himself (and matt I guess) and eventually will.)
New to endless-sphere? Notice a lot of signatures recommending Ebike.ca? That's because it's the best place for a quality and manageable, (but still 'real'), first build. Justin is a solid supporter of electric bike development, and a good source of equipment.

There is only one cooler chemistry ATM. And thats only because its safer and more energy dense but not as power dense!
Thanks Justin of http://www.ebikes.ca/

If you are thinking of the Li(NiMnCoO2) chemistry, it's power density isn't too far off A123s, maybe 7% less? But definitely less than HK LiPo, yes. Plenty enough for e-bikes, that's for sure.

I've been using the Turnigy 40C LiPo in my battery packs and they deliver remarkably high amps with little sag. They don't have the gravimetric energy density of the 20C LiPo (about 160 Wh/kg) but I think they do pretty well (140 Wh/kg).
