I updated the first post with the axle size specs for those wondering how long the axle will be and how long the threaded length will be.

You posted on the first page that the axle will be 8.8" long. Subtract 5.31" for a 135mm frame from that, and you have about 3.5" exposed, or 1.75" per side. I think the nuts were 5/8"', 3/16" for washer/lock washer, 5/16" for dropouts. Thats a total of 1 1/8" of axle stub accounted for, leaving 5/8" for a torque arm, and spacers if you need to stretch your 135mm frame to fit a disk caliper.

If you don't like to leave the nut on the very last thread, call it 1/2" for torque arm and spacers.

And on 150mm frame, .29" for torque arm and spacers.

You also posted on the first page that the threaded area was 1.57" on each side - if that is the length of the flats, then that leaves 0.45" for torque arms on a 135mm frame, and 0.11" on a 150mm frame.

In a 14 inch dirtbike rim with a nice fat tire this motor would look right purdy on my rediculously over built 70lb full suspension recumbent. Not to mention that I have an 18 fet lyen controller that has been itching for a good modding for some time now, and this looks like just the excuse to finally go through with it.

Well, the rim is easy enough, that you can grab off of eBay from any dealer of chinese dirtbike parts ( I tend to favor the "chinese motor parts" eBay store but I think they may only sell built wheels). There is actually a whole wealth of cheap super light generic chinese dirtbike parts that are a little too flimsy to be taken serious by any hardcore motocross buff, and way too over built for any serious bicyclist to consider weighing down their 17lb $3000 carbon fiber tour bike with, but perfect for people like us who are building rediculously over powered ebikes. I just put a pair of dirtbike forks on my semi-recumbent cruiser build, and although the extra 12lbs stings a little on the hills, there is nothing quite like 5+ inches of travel to put the fun factor back in your daily commute (curbs have effectively lost all meaning to me at this point, and thats running a 5302, who knows what shenanigans will ensue once I get my hands on something with even a modicum of low speed torque). I figured, hell, at $60 for the pair, I can always put them on a different bike if I don't like them on this rig.

At any rate, my plan was to rig something custom out of aluminum plate since your spokes would be probitively small in a 14 inch (read 16" in bicycle terms, with a tyre my total wheel diameter should be about 18") dirtbike rim. If it weren't for the motors coming out cockeyed this run I probably would have experimented with attaching the tyre directly to the hub itself, but that will likely be a bit difficult at this point unless I want to upgrade to a motorcycle swing arm to give myself some play in the wheel position. As it stands, I'm still looking at some sort of custom hack to almost directly interface the rim with the hubany way I slice it, and the cromotor will probably obliterate the first few attempts, but this kind of thing is not that uncommon with scooter hubs so it should be doable all the same.

You can most likely do your interface you were talking about, the flanges are now centered due to the new custom made 16mm axles Greyborg designed to solve some problems Here is a picture with the new axle installed.

Sweet, looks like I wasn't paying close enough attention to the updates. Yeah, in that case it should be a lot easier to rig something up that will either keep a very tall baloon tyre snug against the hub or the rim snug against the hub with a smaller tyre. Since we don't have to dish the wheel any more, with the right lining/interface it should be possible to pull the rim taught against the hub if we need to. If the spokes don't need to bear any serious compression load, it should be much easier to fool around with how we use them.

You can get it from Hyena (Jay), he is going get some hubzilla motors for Aussie region since he was upset for being ripped off from Crystalyte Kenny. He is going different route for better quality control from CroMotor folks are far best reliable reputation than Crystalyte.

I was the one encourage Jay to get CroMotor line for Aussie regional.

It would save your shipping costs.

You need to contact Accountant to find out who to purchase from. I'm only handling USA and Canada.

I cleaned up my first post to hopefully cut down on some confusion. I'll let everyone know on here as soon as the motors are on their way to me and then once I have them packaged up and ready to ship. People who have emailed me will be notified before I update this post so they will have first dibs. I should have enough to satisfy demand but I've been getting several requests the last few days so the amount left is dropping.
