Poll for MXUS Direct Drive Hub Options & Pricing

Post by teslanv » Jan 27, 2015 11:28 am

I have pricing from MXUS for their complete Line of Direct Drive (Gearless) Hub Motors. The prices Listed would be my Retail Prices, shipped within the Continental USA.

Any Winding (Kv) is possible, and does not affect pricing. All Pricing is for a Bare Hub Motor, no Lacing or Rims.

For XF39/40 and XF39/40-30H Motors (28mm and 30mm stators & magnets) The Stock Winding Options would be 12X5T (Highest Kv, Lowest Kt), 9X7T, 8X8T (Highest Copper Fill), 6X10T, 5X12T (Lowest Kv, Highest Kt)

For the XF40-35H motors (35mm Stator & magnets), The Stock Winding Options would be 16X4T (Highest Kv, Lowest Kt and Highest Copper Fill), 10X6T, 8x8T (Lowest Kv, Highest Kt, Highest Copper Fill)

For the XF40-45H V1 motors (45mm Stamped Steel Stator & 45mm Magnets), the Stock Winding Options would be 21X3T (Highest Kv, Lowest Kt), 16X4T (Highest Copper Fill), 12X5T, 10X6T (Lowest Kv, Highest Kt)

For the XF40-45H V2 motors (45mm Aluminum Stator & 45mm Magnets), the Stock Winding Options would be 21X3T (Highest Kv, Lowest Kt), 16X4T (Highest Copper Fill), 12X5T, 10X6T (Lowest Kv, Highest Kt)

I am trying to decide which motors to keep in stock for fast USA delivery. If you are willing to wait, any motor or winding may be special ordered and included on my regularly occurring orders from MXUS.

Not sure which of those motors are the highest torque lowest speed for soft sand?

For the XF39 (Front) and XF40 (Rear) Motors, Lowest Kv (Lower RPM per Volt) and Highest Kt (Higher Torque per Amp) would be the 5X12T winding. The 6X10T would be slightly higher Kv and Lower Kt

Other than the 45's, are they all 135 mm dropout spacing?

Yes, the XF40-35H and smaller motors are 135mm Drop Out Widths.

No such thing, every winding is the same for the same motor!

The MXUS 3000W in any flavor, 3T, 4T, 5T, 6T, 7T all have the same torque.

would the 35mm version come with an aluminum stator and 0,35mm lams?

if you ask me i would say MXUS should first work on the build quality instead of extending theire product line.
on my recent XF40-45H motors i realized that the outer surface of the rotor had beed machined 0,3mm out of true. sounds not much, but this will cause the wheel to bounce a lot and makes balancing absolutely necessary. Every motor i got has this, so i think 99% will have that.
there is another issue with the bearings: some make a grinding noise even when never be used. a friend told me he had already two fatal bearing failures where the stator got stuck to the magnets during riding. imagine what happens if this appear at 40mph+

Agree, but they didn't want your motor to last forever. Volume
So how to balance ?

I did 11 000km with my front XF40 8x8T. Worked like a clock. I sold it god knows how much new owner has done with it. It"s still like new, no free play anywhere, everything shiny.
Now done 6000km with rear XF40 9x7, and it"s good but there is a slack between the bearing and the axle. When you rock it by holding the rim there"s clear free play clunk-clunk-clunk right there. New bearings won"t help.It works and rides great but it is bit worrying. I love the five-speed pedelec panel they have now, it"s good. What sucks a bit is that here those XF40-models are so-called "antiwater"-models, which means you can not use different controller with them, or different motor with the same controller, as i would like to do. I would like to try XF40-35H.
Controllers are very reliable. I have overvolted both of them and they just work, year after year.

Looking at the poll it seems XF45H V2 rear 4 turn is at the top . I want one.
