RC lipo and most other types of Lithium batteries you MUST know your individual cell voltages while charging and discharging.
Batteries of all kinds need respect they can burn your house down, so don't sleep with them under your bed or any other were you cant afford smoke or fire!

Interestingly, the skirts are worth an honest 2+ mpg -

First fill-up last night appended to bottom of list below; the whole tank was with the new skirts; same commute, same speed, same gas station, same pump even as I usually use.

345 miles; 12.927 gallons  26.7 mpg (first recorded; tires are ~ten years old)
358 miles and 13.791 gallons  26 mpg

397 miles and 14.264 gallons  27.8 mpg (first tank on new LRR tires)

396 miles on13.6 gallons  29.2 mpg (minus mirrors, antenna, mudflaps; add wheel discs)
435 miles @ 14.71  29.6 mpg
406 miles at 13.748 gallons  29.5 mpg
446 miles on 14.545 gallons  30.7 mpg
421 miles @ 13.871 gallons  30.6 mpg

474 miles @14.42 gallons  32.9 mpg! (lowered ~2-1/2")
470 miles @ 14.753 gallons  31.9 mpg (daughter's HS on fall break; less interstate time)
484 miles@14.88 gallons  32.5 mpg

476 miles @ 13.50 gallons  35.25 mpg

When do you plan to have this electrification project completed?

Man, I'm having trouble making the battery purchase. I'm investigating some interesting new technology for a very large application at work, and I just have this fear that batteries are about to be old-tech.

using the fill up amount has too much variability, skirts should not make that much difference. i found that high pressure tires, 38-40psi, and removing the toe in had a big effect for me, wind resistance is the biggy, so speed is key also. it is hard to drive below 60 though. rain is big too, but snow is the worst on mileage. but it seems like you should be able to get 34 out of it because of the weight, but it is over 2 liters right? best i ever got out of stock car was in a 1984 CRX hf with the 1.3 liter engine, that was 49mpg, freeway, 60mph.

I would be the same...

I would go A123 Pouch Cells for this project, just like I am doing.
http://www.JCCayer.com Where you can find tools and Dewalt(A123) batteries.

I would just get enough batteries to get it all working then buy them very last so this way you can get the best quality and price point you can when you are actualy about to start driving it! This is why I will get the rear wheels figured out first and run my car as a hybrid at first and how I buy batteries to do most my builds.
