That is one mad idea! 
They're proposing to emulate Lindbergh by rendezvous with a series of five battery-carrying UAVs in flight.
But since batteries weigh at least 30 times as much as gas for the same energy, that's like flying the same speed as Spirit of St Louis with the same power, but with SIX TIMES the takeoff weight.
