Trolling Motor Help

Postby Macgyversklz » Tue Apr 10, 2012 3:09 pm

Guy's im looking to buy a battery pack that i can use for an e-bike and a trolling motor on my canoe as well. I'm leaning toward Headway Lifepo's in a 3 x 24v 10Ah pack configuration that i could run in parrelell for the 24V trolling motor in in series for the e-bike. My intial question would be what kind of performace run time would i get out of a pack like that on the water? Secoundly i am thinking i need some kind of controller for the trolling motor, any help on what specs would be suitable for this kind of application? Any input thoughts or concerns on this would be a huge help.

I was thinking of doing the same thing only with lipo.
I used to carry a full size ( group 27 series) gel cell and
a (group 24 ) deep cycle rv batt.
The gel would run the 12 volt motor and the other for the fish
finder and tunes.
Mumzie and I could troll for 6 hours easily but all that weight sucked.
This is fishing in my peddel boat with the peddels removed.
If I could do the same with a small pack of lipo I'd be a happy camper.
Use it on the bike too, TOO KOOL.

Found this:

U1 34 to 40 Amp hours 12 volts
Group 24 70-85 Amp hours 12 volts
Group 27 85-105 Amp hours 12 volts
Group 31 95-125 Amp hours 12 volts
4-D 180-215 Amp hours 12 volts
8-D 225-255 Amp hours 12 volts
Golf Cart & T-105 180 to 225 Amp hours 6 volts
L-16, L16HC etc. 340 to 415 Amp hours 6 volts

Looks like Group 27s are around 85-105Ah @ 12V depending on discharge rate as well. That would mean 1020Wh to 1260Wh.

That's a large pack!
