but seriously... was this laced onto a hub motor ? .. or was it just a plain bicycle wheel that failed ?

I find for light weight 700c road bikes (including heavy motor hubs) that Mavic Open Pro 36 spoke work well. 100 km sounds like some other problem must have been present

You are not alone.

^-- gallery of broken carbon parts.

Big waste of money IMHO. Around half the weight.. double to tenfold the price.. and a third of the structural integrity of aluminum..

The upside is that if you're a low budget cyclist, you are given a fantastic opportunity to laugh at the big spender lycra dudes.

The girlfriend bike: 350W front MAC on a 700c Trek.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB
The Bus: ??? on a 'da bomb' cargo bike frame

Pro-tips for noobs: Avoid BMS Battery like the plague | Charge RC Lipos to 4.15v, stop discharging at 3.5-3.6v | Use torque plates/arms! | Rear mounted hubs are always best

Got a laugh twice on this one! Once on the first comment and another because I got my bike for free and the kit for 50% off. I pass or catch 'em drafting behind me in headwinds all the time. Also admit I'm green with envy!

I'd call the manufacture for warranty/money back, then get a regular rear wheel and run disc covers.

What a load of tosh. Having worked in a bike shop I've seen tons of broken alloy and steel parts. Things fail/break - carbon isn't any worse than steel or alluminium.

I've been running a front hub motor on my front carbon fork and it's done 2500miles so far.

Nearly all carbon failures I've seen have been a result of accident/crash damage. I've seen more "random" failures in alluminium and steel parts.
