Hey all,

Just replaced some hybrid semi-soft-road tyres (700c x 35mm) with Continental 700c x 42mm EcoContact Tyres. The tyres were on special a few months ago, as they were run out (now replaced with Continental E.Contact).

They're tyres designed specifically for high speed eBikes, good for up to 50km/h. They're kevlar belted for puncture resistance.

My first ride which was only about 5km, gave me a very good impression. Silent, grippy, very comfortable (though I did drop from 65psi to 50psi - the recommended pressure). Rolling resistance felt a LOT lower than the old tyres. Not quite like my Continental GP4000s (700x23), unsurprisingly, but if I were to place it on a line between my old soft-road tyres and the GP4000s, it would easily be closer to the GP 4000s. As in 75-80% of the way there, even at the ridiculously low pressures I'm running.

If anyone is 100% tarmac on their commute, and looking for a very good tyre at a reasonable price, I would recommend looking at the E.Contact with the SafetyPlus feature (The 50km/h limit ones)

The specialist tyre for fast e-bikes and rental bikes

For E-bikes, we have combined the SafetySystem Breaker with a highly elastic material. The result is an extremely puncture and cut resistant casing which, thanks to its high elasticity, gives especially low rolling resistance, saving battery power and the environment. The breaker also meets the demands of the higher speed e-bikes, of up to 50 km/h. The breaker is also adapted for the higher acceleration torque of e-bikes as well as the faster cornering speeds.
