The (FIRST?!) transformer e-vehicle: from push trailer to BOBSLED in about two minutes!

Okay, I chopped my Mongoose HG 1000 in half, and attached it to the BOB trailer. It works well as a "push-trailer", here's a pic:

Then my friend came over and said, "A motorized propulsion system and cargo carrying capabillity - why not have both features in a rideable vehicle, instead of having to pull a trailer? It would be more manuverable and less cumbersome."

I said, "Why not have BOTH?!?!?!"

We came up with the idea of adding a front-end to the new HG 1000 / BOB trailer - to have it as a vehicle that can haul major cargo on it's own - without having to pull a trailer... but to have it transformable from stand-alone vehicle back to trailer...

It's basically a "stretched" scooter now, but with major "sport-utility" status:

By removing the fork and handle-bars (about two minutes), and adding the BOB trailer fork, it is completely functional as a "push trailer". Replace the hub motor wheel with a normal one, and it's back to a (stretched) BOB trailer. Ideally, I should have one throttle on the "BOB-SLED" and one on my trailer-pulling 'cycle, with a quick-release connection, to easily connect between the two options.

I call it a BOB-SLED, because it isn't a bicycle, since there are no pedals or even a chain. There are SO many ways to ride it: You can stand up, put your legs anywhere in the cargo area (it also has "high-way bars" that are outside the cargo area, for stretching your legs straight out while riding with a full load.

That is excellent.

Cool idea!

I think I'd want even longer (back, not higher) handlebars though. (couldn't really tell how far back the ones you put on later were though)

Check the last picture in the original post - that's how far back the bars currently are...

I agree about needing longer back, not higher, but I don't know how to bring them back without going for longer bars; I'll just angle them back. The footage in the video was when we first built it with straight bars.

Currently they are 15" buckhorn handlebars, but more is needed so I am ordering some 25" ape-hangers, that should do the trick.

Sorry about the lighting; I was too excited to wait until daytime

Yeah, that sounds like it ought to be just about right.

I know the feeling. ;)
