So, the hornet had a flat, and the wheel had to come off ( tire needed replacing as well ) . upon trying to re-mount the motor to the bike, the already fragile axle totally stripped out before any meaningfull torque was applied.. doh.. another motor added to the box of " I'll do something with this someday " ..

Well, Doctorbass seems to be having too much fun with his 5305 i figured i'd jump in and have some fun too !!

The frame is an " OCC Schwinn stingray " with Rock Shock front fork ( frame cost 40 $ on ebay, the front end cost a few 100 !!! )

This is the new home of my green square 12ah cells, the PSI's will go on the Norco !!! .. not sure what to do with the 72v 20ah of LiMn currently on the norco but i'm sure i'll find something.

Hey Y,

i've been waiting for this build since you firt showed the frame, nice 8)
looking forward to some vid before the seasons out.

Cheers,

D

Very cool...curious what make seat that is...

Best get the wires cleaned up before TD spots it and hands you a 40 or two hehe..

best of luck..

Hey Dee ! The chopper has been on the back burner for a while now, i knew the axle was unfit for daily use, so i kept putting it off as i had plenty of other things to work on.. but i just have to finish up the chopper to i can get to work on the PSI packs !!!!

The seat was from canadian tire, it's a " Schwinn ".

It was just negative, wasn't it?

I like this "edge detection" effect, especially when there are lots of lines, like here's the good doctor's battery pack ...

Hey that's the cell group of my battery pack no 2 ! great effect with edge detection effect !

Doc

Ypedal.. Welcome to the X5305 troque club!!

is it a 20" wheel?? that should result in a very dangerous pulling force and acceleration!!!

5305 and 20" wheel..  .. and many VOLTS and AMP!!

Yo Doc !

Just came back from another test run, something i've learned over the years, BEFORE you start to cut, snip, solder, and make things " final " .. zip tie the wires to the frame and go for a ride, if something fails is much less frustrating to find out sooner than later !

Got 48v 12ah worth of batts in the frame, and the controller bolted down..

Check out my footpegs !! lol..

Very nice work.

Did you have to make a special axle for the motor or is the axle of the motor stock? I have the same frame, and the drop out spacing is like 8", longer than anything I've seen.

Thanks.

I had to squeeze the frame in a bit, and there was no way to perfectly centre the wheel in the frame, it's off to one side a bit, looks a bit weird but you canot tell the difference when you ride.

I have 4 series motors with 9 inch long axles that would fit perfectly in these chopper frames, but i really wanted an X5 in this thing.

The batteries were originally going to be 3 x 24v 12ah LiFePo4 for 72v, however, one of the 24v packs got 2 bad cells, and one more cell was sent to Deepkimchi so he can repair his.. this leaves 2 x 24v + 5 cells.

I " was " going to make the pack easy to remove for charging, but that turned into a complicated thing, so it's perma-mount instead !

Diamond plate aluminum is easy to cut, i love this stuff..
