Nice bike El Duderino.

I need a chainguard like yours, already scrapt too many pair of pants with my "naked" crankset. Did you get it online?

Thanks for the compliment, El_Steak! These frames are fantastic and I really like what you've done with yours. Great work.

I found my chain guards, SKS Chainboard, here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sks+chainboard&x=0&y=0&ih=9_3_1_1_0_0_0_0_0_1.86_118&fsc=5
I believe it was Niagara Cycle Works that purchased them from.
The 48T guard is a bit snug around the 48T ring on the BionX bike but otherwise works quite nicely.

Re: The official "My Tidalforce S-750 frame creation" thread

Postby Rin » Sun Nov 07, 2010 2:39 pm

This was the last silver frame tidal force bike from Oatnet. I used a 9C 10x6 rear motor. My previous bike had an early Ampedbike front 7x9 winding, I think they were 9c's then. Big difference in many ways. The top speed of course is much better, however, it is a dog on the hills. The first bike with 7x9 was great on hills even with a 36v battery. Also the rear motor is a juice hog. I am using the same 36v10ah battery and I got about 20 mile range on the 7x9, pedaling most of the time. The rear motor is only good for about 13 miles. I guess a larger capacity battery will be necessary in the future. However, I really like the extra top end speed and the bike handles really well. I have a Dart 3 front shock which is a much better ride than my previous no front shock bike.

Thanks to Oatnet for the great deal on the frames and I would like to express my appreciation to all the other Tidal Force builders who have posted their experences as well as pictures. All of the posted info gave me a lot to consider in my build and helped me make it a fairly good experience. I am definitely not as handy as many of you and my workshop is pretty basic. However, I am really pleased with the way the bike turned out. Thanks again. Now I think I am off for a ride.

prety sur it's a Topeak MTX with the dovetail slider for the matching quick release MTX trunk bag.
the MTX rack was actually a part of the original TF aux batt package.

chroot, Yes, the rack is a Topeak, they have several different models including one if you have rear disc brakes. The bag is also Topeak. They have several sizes, be sure to check for dimensions if you plan on using for battery. The look is somewhat misleading as they don't have as much room inside as it looks.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm betting many TF owners have it subscribed.

Did any of you build a custom battery enclosure for frame mounting on the S-750?

Hi 'steak! :D

Jerry, at Ashland electric bikes, had completed a model, and was looking to do a production run. Send him a pm I'm sure he'd be glad to hear from you.

Jerry of http://www.ashlandelectricbikes.comemailed me that he had one of his S-750 bikes stolen from in front of his shop  . The email included a few pictures of his current builds featuring his new battery boxes, so I thought I'd post them here.

Bummer for the stolen TF.

He did a very slick job with the triangle battery box. I wonder how much he is able to pack in there, that triangle is really small.

I'll send him an email.

Hi guys. Yes, the battery boxes are quite the nice feature for the Tidalforce bikes. I'm packing them with 48V 10AH LiPo cells from Tenergy. I'm not able to sell any of the boxes with or without batteries right now; I've only got enough for the remaining frames I have. Owing to the interest that these postings have stimulated, I'm going to look into having a quantity of additional boxes and covers made. Once I have the pricing details worked out I will post them here.

FYI, the outside width of the box is 3.75" with a usable interior width of 3". The frame is powder coated aluminum, the side covers are ABS textured plastic. This close up photo shows covers made of expanded PVC sheeting rather than the textured ABS that I settled on, nor does it show the three screws that attach the sides. The photos of the three bikes shows the final version of the cases. Stay tuned.

That's a beautiful case. I would love to know the pricing. You should consider selling the case WITH the battery pack and charger. A turnkey system for the S-750 frame would be popular at 36 volts for Tidalforce owners whose NiMH front hub batteries are dying and also for others who may want a 48v battery.

Look forward to an update on the triangle battery box. I just spent part of my weekend mocking up boxes for the roller I got from icecube57.
Sent email asking about availability and pricing.

.
I went looking for the first pic in the series (motor breakout), and found it was no longer on the web. Fortunately, I found a copy of this page that I saved in 2008, with pictures that I think should be preserved for ebike history. It has more to do with the history of Wavecrest Tidalforce manufacturing processes than it does the frames, but I needed a place to store it and I figured the folks watching this thread are TF fans. The pictures and text below the dotted line were produced by electricrider.com, and included here for archive purposes.

Yeah the 7 phase (IIRC) TF motor and its large diameter stator was reportedly very interesting at higher voltages, would have been a blast in that buggy.

Ambrose's page about TF history has another shot of the buggy, and is generally interesting to boot.
