dingo, thanks for sharing the pictures (was too lazy to take any this year). the bmx-ers put on a good show--couldn't believe the commentator didn't even know the names of the australian and english riders.

zero motorcycle's new prototype was on display by their oem. their sales girl was cute. when i asked if she had rode it she replied "only got on top but didn't give it a blow [the throttle]" (sounds worse in chinese).

Every comment I see about that bike is negative so I hate to admit, I kinda like it. I guess that's why I don't design bikes for a living.

i saw that bike--i thought it looked pretty good. very bimota/ducati. i'm designing something similar but now i'm a little discouraged.

Well, I like the style of the red bike.

The problem I see is that, they have designed an all-in-one drive system that is difficult to integrate.... It's too low on the red bike and too close to the front wheel on the cruiser....... And these are designs that they created to show off their drive, too............ at least, I assume so...

ITRI had an axial flux bike rim motor on display. my buddy saw it when he went back the next day (i missed it). we're going to try and meet up with them next week.

i'm guessing something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCu3_dVM ... L&index=66

just emailed my dad for a hookup...he went to school with the former minister of education and NOW director of ITRI.

will find out more and let you know. i'm going to tell them it's for a green motorcyle project when really it's for my bike (not everyone here is as open minded).

if it makes the kind of torque i think it will make, i will immediately do away with my 5kg nuvinci and give the planetary drive and eno's a heave ho. getting burned out trying to shoehorn everything in there (but definitely don't wanna go back to frock).

would be great if the stator/bearing assembly could also somehow support the rotors/wheel for a hub-less effect.

i'd also like to know if their motor could be somehow mated to an epicyclic drive.

how is safe's axial flub motor on motorizedbikes.com project going anyhow?

HAHA i checked back yesterday on Motoredbikes first time since i was banned, Safe has like
15 pages of dribble and made one wobbly disk out of fiber glass since he started the thread,
if he worked as much as he talked he would be a frocking legend alas he spends 99% of the time
drunk at his PC making pointless graphs rather than actually producing anything...maybe in another
6 months he may have something working but then it will take another 12 to refine it as he will surely vere off track
down another path, other words, don't hold ya breath hahaha...

Don't be discouraged. Just design your bike so it doesn't bottom out when you sit on it, or use shocks that don't imply downhill use. Also, don't listen to people's comments on the internet and base the future of your dreams upon them. Usually, a bunch of idiots spout off first, then people that actually thought about the design will chime in.

I'm thinking/hoping they have a bunch of air in the shocks on that thing and it's more of a street/smooth trail oriented design. They probably used that suspension because it is relatively light and will handle the extra weight, but had no intention of taking full advantage of the travel. Looking at the wheel to box tolerance on the cruiser makes me question how much real world experience went into developing these designs though.
