Nice

I bet your top speed is more since some C-A are limited to display 100km/h max?

Did you tested your no load speed?

Doc

Yeah no load is 155 km/h, i setup my CA to 00 km/h but the road is to short!!!

I was running my 5403 with a 30s kelly and never quite saw over 120km/h with a 26 inch rim on flat. I wish you luck sir!

WOW!

First build and 30S and a 250amp Kelly. So much for baby steps!

Having Doc close by is nice!

Sweet build!

I wouldn't be too surprised if you went to a smaller rim and your top speed increased. A 5404 is 9.6Kv right? That should make a 5403 14.4KV and a 5402 19.2KV. If your motor motor is 14.4KV then the large wheel is probably holding you back in a large way. You are spending too much time making heat. Have you tried running the bike on 24s and seeing what speed it tops out at with you riding? Do you have a 5404 in the same size wheel you could swap? A 5404 in a 26" setup should get you +100kmh on 100v.

Zombiess, the 5403 is 9.7KV i measured it personally

The KV on wider stator decrease. The 5303 is faster KV than the 5403.

that'S why i lost top speed from replacing my old great 5303 with the 5403. but as well the 5403 is much more torque.

Sorry Doc, my bad. Going off topic for a second here since you raised a question in my mind about motors and Kv.
What motor comes on the Stealth Bomber? I think I mixed up the models. I was talking to a Stealth owner and for some reason I was thinking they had 5404 motors. Must be 5403 motors because I know he told me the KV was measured at something like 9.6x when he did it. My fault on the bad math then. Now you have me wondering about what effects Kv. We know the Cromotors are 50mm wide stators and 9.3Kv, but they have 4 turns of 36 strands. Is a Crystalyte 5403 9.7KV actually a 3 turn motor? If so how come the Kv between these motors is so close? I have been playing around with my 2 turn (30 strands, 2 turns) 18.6 Kv motor lately and having fun with an 18" OD tire. Now I understand why John in CR loves his high KV small tire motors so much.

You may have lost some top speed when you replaced the 5303 with the 5403, but the 5403 is a much better motor isn't it, high efficiency, more torque, etc? I wish I would have grabbed one during the group buy long ago but I didn't have the funds to buy everything I wanted... then again how many of us do?

Back on topic,

Melting the phase wires like that is nutty! You must have seriously been beating on that thing to get them to turn to goo. What gauge are / were they before the upgrade? Do you think it has more left in it or do you think you are near the saturation point? +100km/hr is no joke on a bicycle. It feels much faster than it does on a motorcycle, at least to me it does. Just a perception thing. I try to keep my speeds slower now, but my wife is starting to get throttle happy on her bike. She now has the courage to go over 20mph on her bike (top speed of 24 MPH).

Lollll 1 km/h

The stock phase wire is 12 gauge
