Brushed warp13's I believe. Which IIRC are the same motors used in the concept 1 prototype while they are figuring out the brushless solution. But I'm not 100% certain on that.

I hope someone chimes in and says different. Because its not going to look good when the world finds out that all the specs are based on speculation!
Thanks Justin of http://www.ebikes.ca/

And Dave who has some good deals on STUFF Incl. Mosfets, Current sensors and Nomex paper.
RC lipo and most other types of Lithium batteries you MUST know your individual cell voltages while charging and discharging.
Batteries of all kinds need respect they can burn your house down, so don't sleep with them under your bed or any other were you cant afford smoke or fire!

I don't think they are trying to hide anything, IIRC, they stated it was brushed for now at one of the shows, and showed examples of what they plan the brushless version with incorporated controller might look like.

These are great guys and honest guys making awesome stuff. Nothing to worry about. :-)

Going from memory, the BMW started out with a single Warp11HV and a Zilla 2K controller. It then moved to a single 250kw(I think) version of the brushless PM motors he was working on. There are more details in his threads on the DIY forum.

There was a quick mention of this car in Popular Science. They think production is "unlikely," but we shall see.

Good to see you too. Its amazing how small the world is sometimes lol. I've actually been on DIY Electric Car for a while and finally decided to join this place. Still getting used to this forum software though.

Good to have you a part of the board. Looking forward to hearing of the innovative projects you have in the works! Try the eTech skin you might like it a little better, as it is a bit like one of the old boards we used to visit.

The most annoying thing is there doesn't seem to be a way to subscribe or follow topics without getting email notifications. Oh well.

I doubt I will have any EV projects anytime soon, after paying for a wedding and a house. Who knows though, I may try something cheap like an e-bicycle project. I've been contemplating an e-bike trailer project ever since I saw this article:

I'm guessing thats Crodriver himself that posted the links a few posts up btw. Good to have you on here too Cro :)

The subscribe pick at the top left (on my screen) does send emails. The "bookmark" pick (next to subscribe) on mine places the thread into your bookmark file for easy clicking to. User control panel>manage bookmarks

Just sayin'

Awesome work, inspires me to take a master in electrical engineering :) Or just design something totally nutty, hope to get funding, and try realizing it. E-moto with similar specs (2wd ofc) would be nice :P

Hi Luke

Thanks, I'm glad you like our work.

We used brushed motors a few years ago (in the green BMW, AKA e-M3) but we have completely switched to PM.

The first Concept_One prototype already has the dual motors with integrated controllers but only in the rear.

New AWD prototypes with improved motor systems are now in production.

That a fairly steep price (at least for me), but I wouldnt be surprised if they were not making much money.
Btw, where are the lighting fast, tire smoking videos Crodriver?

It's faster than a top of the line Lamborghini, but at a lower price tag, to put that in perspective :)
