hello! I tried posting this on goldenmotor's forum but that was a waist of time I guess.
I am trying to get a golden magic controller to work on a MAC/BMC brushless motor (internal controller is bypassed). I have not changed any of the factory settings. I believe I have the right wire combinations for the hall sensors and the phase wires. The controller does drive the motor. However, it's very weak... like its running on half power. I tried the same motor on a Lyen controller with great success. here is a pic of the inside of the motor. it's an 18 pole stator with the hall sensors placed directly inbetween the poles... and spaced by 3 poles each. Is the default Phase angle for this controller 120deg?
while testing all 36 wire combinations I kept notes of the results. 6 of the 36 combinations resulted in CW operation and another 6 resulted in CCW rotation. My amp meter was showing 3.6amp draw for all of these wide open throttle tests (free wheel). so I retested the 6 CCW configurations (ccw necessary for my scooter) with a full load on my scooter. I found that none of the 6 combinations reached full power.... 2 of the 6 combinations gave me about 30% power. another 2 gave me about 50% power, and the last 2 gave me about 75% power. Which would lead me to believe the BMC stock hall sensor placements on this motor are wrong for this controller ... or just aren't supported. Can anyone confirm this?

also, if I wanted to use this controller on a brushed motor, which wires do I use?
and assuming I can't use this on a BMC motor, I'm thinking of getting a direct drive hub motor for my bike. anyone know if I can use this controller on something other than a Golden Motor? suggestion? (link please)
