Postby NeilP » Thu Apr 12, 2012 6:22 am

I need to find my self a short range (5-10 miles max) folding e-bike or other e-transport to fit in an aeroplane wing locker and am after suggestions.

it needs to fit in a wing locker of one of these

Max width of the opening is 20 inches

Max internal height is 10 - 11 inches

Anyone got any suggestions?

A Mountain board is out as my balance is shit..never could surf or use a skateboard

I wondered why it has been a bit slow recently. I'll have to have words with our engineers

Actually first thought it was your passenger door that you needed it to fit. But to the right of the open door is your "wing locker" (never knew those were on small planes).

http://www.goped.com/Products/Iped-ii/default.asp

should fit inside that.

They look great. Had not considered anything like that , had only thought of bikes, but that would bf perfect

Then do have brushed motors though, which is a shame
Suppose I could build my own

Edit : Can't find a price for any of them yet, and their on line shopping system seems to be down at the moment

Some variants of those aircraft ( PA 31) also have a fuel tank fitted in thd centre section of that space, but there is still room for a small rear locker

I modded 2 e300 razors for my nieces, they make good platforms to start with. Not very stable above 20mph, but still useable. Throw in an RC motor if you want more power. Used ones go for under $80 here.

SOunds liek a good idea.
Any tech info on them for me?
Are the original motor brushed or brushless?
Battery chemistry ?
Any idea what the standard controller can take voltage wise?

Or I wonder if it is possible to just electrify one of the light weigh hard wheel types...friction drive maybe?

I ended up replacing the original throttle and controller since it was basically on/off. Stayed with the brush setup because my nieces were 11 and 13. The e300 is the largest of the razor line meant for 16 and up. Frame is solid enough for an adult. Battery was lead 24 volt. You would be basically buying it for the frame so you could retrofit it with an rc setup. I plan to do something similar to a xooter - hard wheel type, but the machine work is a lot more extensive. It would make for a very compact setup I can leave in the car. Stick with balloon tires if you need to ride on gravel roads and grass.
