Depends on the shunt and meter. If you give us the names, model numbers and specs of the shunt and meter it will be easier to help.

Of just give us the links to where you bought them so we can check them out. :D

The wire you used is probably ok, it does sound like it is heaver then necessary. if you shunt is only 75mv then you should be able to use finer gauge wire.

If you can not get us the manufacture name and model numbers of your equipment, then we would really only be guessing.

My only guess at the moment is that the meter and shunt aren't well matched for your 30 amp controller. In other words your setup is looking for a higher amp draw.

But that is only a guess.

It's really frustrating when people post requests for help, give insufficient information, and then refuse to answer any questions that would let us help them. It's one reason a lot of people don't even bother replying to help requests, and why so many go completely unanswered (0 replies)--these people like "griz" are just wasting our time.

If you make sure the shunt is between the positive out of your pack and the first relay or switch, then you will have your best chance of getting your best reading.

Yea, it would be nice if they worked a bit harder at it and let us really help out.
