Yeah. I can't wait to see what the Model 3 looks like. He did say he might do something radical. That would be awesome, but I can't see anything truly aero selling to the general public. They want a box to haul they latest load of crap home from the big box store.
Wait just a minute. At least for a while and might still be the model s has the lowest Co-efficient of drag of any production car. So aero is possible with looks. Most forget the bottom of the car needs to be dealt with.

In fast I plan to play with a skid plate type cover for the bottom of the CRX

The Model 3 can't enter production until the Gigafactory comes online. That is the key to the range/ price equation.

.
In the launch video for the PowerWall, Musk is calling it "Gigafactory 1". And states that it is designed as a template. As a "machine". That could be purchased for construction anywhere. Click on the 17 minute video.

arlo1,

The i3 and Leaf both have flat belly pans like the S, just like my old three cylinder, 2 stroke 1960's Saab (great for sliding over snow drifts too). The S has low drag because it is a very low sedan. They managed the same Cd for the Model X, but being a crossover, it has more frontal area, so a higher CdA.

The Model 3 will likely be a crossover too. It is what the majority of people seem to want.

They were planning for the model 3 to be a cheaper car and a model Y to be a cheaper crossover last I heard.

New for this year, the e20 had been expanded! Now the e20PLUS has more (empty) seats and more (empty) cargo space!

(STILL hard to pedal though... Indian engineers confident to come up with... something.)

"Mahindra e2oPlus Review"
http://auto.ndtv.com/reviews/mahindra-e ... ew-1476877
The car has been priced between Rs. 5.46 lakh - Rs. 8.46 lakh
(1lakh = 100,000 rupees... so right now 5.46 lakh = about $8,166US...)

Anyone selling it in the US? Have they gone through the process of getting it onto our roads, a bit more restrictive than in India. :?:

Chevrolet Bolt EV is the 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year
http://www.motortrend.com/news/chevrole ... picks=true
The 60-kW-hr battery pack, co-developed with and assembled by LG Chem, holds more than triple the energy of the pack in the Chevy Spark EV—but weighs little more than twice as much. Mounted under the floor and rear seat, the battery is also a structural element, contributing 25 percent of the car’s overall torsional stiffness. The battery is expected to last the life of the Bolt EV, and it’s covered by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.
Impressive. Among many features. Perhaps the Chevy Bolt has the Tesla Model 3 beat.

As we come to close of 2017 and the fall gives rise to 2018 models, though I'd chime in who I feel deserves the EV car of the year award: its the Tesla Model 3. Its nearly guaranteed to become the first A-EV the world will see - that's Autonomous Electric Vehicle. To understand the reason why, watch this:

Its based on the recently published report: Rethinking Transportation 2020-2030 by https://www.rethinkx.com. So the Tesla models are not just nice cars - they'll be a major disruptive technology that changes everything.

Hehe... ESB "Search found 38 matches: +Kia +Soul"... again:

(They say:)
Wirecutter is a list of the best gear and gadgets for people who want to save the time and stress of figuring out what to buy. Whatever sort of thing you need—tableware or ebikes or air purifier—we make shopping for it easy by telling you the best one to get. The site was founded in September 2011 and was acquired by The New York Times Company in October 2016.
The Best Electric Vehicle:
https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best- ... c-vehicle/

Starts:
After putting in nearly three months of research, interviewing three leading experts on electric vehicles, and driving every EV currently available for sale in the US, we can say that the Kia Soul EV, which costs about $34,0001 (or $26,500 after a federal tax incentive), is currently the best electric car for drivers who want to go completely gas-free, but is REALLY hard to pedal.

EDIT: Sorry, but gotta ask... Re that Mercedes Maybach Vision 6 concept car (above/earlier in this thread), if ya stroke it do ya get the extended version?

My vote goes to the Hyundai Ioniq Electric.

28kWh battery. 13kWh/100km real world consumption (most efficent EV on the market) and a 70kW DC charger and this for a very moderate price.

And you can buy it!

Opel Ampera-e / GM Bolt is a nice car, too, but you can not buy it over here. In reality it is a car whith almost all EV components are made by LG Chem, GM just makes the "conventional car parts" around the drive System and they sell that car at a huge loss.

Tesla 3 still is a wet dream.

Hmm. Not sure that's true. Drove my first EV in 1992, rented my first EV in 1998 and bought my first EV in 2011. Tesla's definitely had a big effect on the market but they certainly didn't create it.

No no they didn't create it by any means. But if it was not for them showing the world how great EVs are GM and the other scum bags would keep making excuses not to make EVs

I used to watch EVs drive past my house daily as long ago as the 1960s
And remember New York had a 90% EV , battery powered, Taxi fleet as long ago as 1900 !

What I'm getting at is it was always going to be a niche market for EVs until someone like Tesla came along. All the others have gotten to greedy to care. Most care sales make the dealership $500-$1500 and that's not enough to support the dealership so they rely on service work and parts sales heavily to keep the pour business model they have going.
