Ask Dlogic viewtopic.php?f=30&t=34817&p=507030 he may not need it. The shipping from Germany is $$ though. Or someone with a burned out Hx35 motor perhaps

PS sorry to hear about your friend's accident.. happened to me as well viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15567#p386901

A mate of mine (and bear with me, it's related) Cryo treated the input shaft out of a jatco 3 speed (auto trans out of a Datsun 120y). This trans was then connected to a 13b rotary engine, in a mazda rx4, and ran 9 second passes all day.....

As a precaution, the trans builder removed the transmission, replaced the 120y input shaft with one custom made from, I think, "hy-tuf",$700 worth of material, plus labour for machining....

The car ran like, 8 passes at Heathcote, then had trans problems..... Snapped input shaft!!!

So- in lieu of another shaft available, the factory (circa 1970) 120y input shaft was re-installed. Been in there ever since.....

If you have metalurgical issues, contact me, I'll give you my mates number. Your shafts WON'T break any more, but note that something else might....

Seems like an epidemic going on. I just snapped one as well. I contacted Kenny at Crystalyte and he sold me a replacement. It's still in transit but Crystalyte will definitely sell you a new one.

Any ideas on how to remove the old one and replace the new one? It looks like the shaft has a spline that is press-fit into the stator's hub. Looks like it will be a lot of fun to remove and replace.

I was lucky enough to have a machine shop around the corner with a 50 ton press.
They said it was in there good, took a bit to move it.
Spline is no prob, keyway is about an inch or so long, HS's are only about 3/8" !!
I've put a HS axle in my snapped h4060, only other difference is the keyway is about 180° to the wire groove

I believe you are right on the press fit. What was the cost of the axle? I wonder if I should just have one shipped with my motor I just bought?

This is not what I wanted to hear. Was yours on a full suspension bike?

If you can find eitherva local machining place, or find a mate with a lathe you could make your own

Search my posts for my 5304 snapped axle thread. If the spline is the same as the 53 series, it is only the axle that is splined. Not actual cut splines, they are rolled or 'knurled' on with a lathe an knurling tool. The idea is to raise the surface of the shaft to create a tight fit when pressing it in

If make your own axle, you could re design to take bigger bearing in side cover for bigger wires, or just stronger thicker axle
