Good luck w/ the sale! I should have waited on my KMX build and just bought yours.. my hub setup is going to end up costing as much as you are selling this for, and yours is MUCH better. Someone scoop up this deal!

Thank you, yes this Trike is a great deal - to buy this new would cost over $7,000. I've discussed HOW TO ship this Trike with Matt, and can have it crated and shipped out to the buyer, asap.

Best regards,

Heya, I keep eyeing this beautiful trike. I hope it finds a home soon.

I think you should clarify in your posting that the bike has Dow Kokam LiNMC LiPo, which is not your run of the mill LiCo LiPo. this is assuming you got the batteries from FFRtrikes after they started using LiNMC. The Dow Kokam stuff is worth at least 2x the HK LiPo, in fact more like 3x. It's also a more robust chemistry.

I think you should also add a location, unless I missed that. Shipping presumably would be another couple hundred, so it might nudge the deal for someone if they can do local.
New to endless-sphere? Notice a lot of signatures recommending Ebike.ca? That's because it's the best place for a quality and manageable, (but still 'real'), first build. Justin is a solid supporter of electric bike development, and a good source of equipment.

Nice build!! I hope someone buys this. I wanted to build a tadpole but unfortunately the roads here are not trike friendly...

This KMX Trike is basically the BMX version used for off-road and trails; I'd recommend not jumping the with the batteries, but this Trike can take a lot of punishment.

The motor is a new 3210 with clutch setup and heat-sink from Matt. Huge torque!

GAH is all I can say. And I've already said it, but i repeat. It's nice. Kind of motivates me to figure out what to do with my life, so I can pick up a tadpole at that location.

Is the ground clearance of the batteries the same as the trike? How does the battery placement effect handling?

My apologies for the late response; I've been in the middle of a MOVE and just got my internet back-online.

Answer: The batteries are boxed in an Aluminum container below the bike; it does reduce ground clearance, but this has never been a problem with roads and bike paths. Handling is not effected; this Trike can be taken off-road, but I'd recommend against jumping it.

I believe you meant "handling is not effected."

The center of gravity would not be too important on a low tadpole trike (because the COG is already low), but the battery placement reinforces the low center of gravity (COG) and is in a pretty good place. It also means that the bike benefits from the front tire braking without toppling forward, though I imagine that issue is not a big issue (but dont have experience to figure out if it is or isnt)

Sweet setup. If it was a Catrike or an ICE I'd be all over it.
Stable:
05 Catrike Road (Yellow), 20" 48V 1000W GM hub motor,12s24Ah Lipo batt.
12 Catrike Expedition (Candy Purple), 18s32Ah Lipo batt. Lyen 18 FET low RDS controller, C'Lyte HS3540 hub motor, CA-SA, Mueller Bros. Windwrap XT fairing, Terra Cycle Cargo Monster extension. Still evolving, should be interesting by next Spring.
2011 Roll Over America tour, 50 Velomobiles, 5000 Km, 24 days, Portland, OR-Washington DC, July 28th-August 24th 2011, damn I was tired after that.

I can understand you liking one Trike design over another; but for this Electric Conversion the KMX is very strong for it's weight and performance.

For some strange reason - now - that College is back in session, I'm getting a lot of people asking question and asking about shipping costs.
