No rear disc brake tabs on a cargo bike? is an absolute deal breaker.

Also, what is the weight of the frame?

The bike looks sweet besides the lack of rear brake mounts. The dropouts look burley enough to handle hubmotor stuff. You need a demo ebike built up though...

Yea I thought the same thing. it's tempting to buy , but id want to hear others experience before going that route.

Who in their right mind would want a weed eater between their legs.

Still it looks nice. LOTS of room.

Looks to be powerplant agnostic: gas or 'lecky. And it's steel... you can add the disk tabs.
Have a Nice Day,

Not for anything, but are people in Philly... Shall I say...
"stupid"?
Watching that video, I see a bicyclist riding next to the middle double yellow lines (of a 4-lane highway) and a pedestrian smack dab in the middle of the intersection, not even close to a crosswalk..

And yeah, get rid of the weed eater and through a hub motor or two on it and THEN sell it to us..

I don't know, is a basic cargo (albeit, patented) frame worth $500-$650?!?

Is the parallelogram in the rear of the frame a design feature?

The Yuba mundo is about $500 plus shipping, so that's not too far off.

But a disc brake mount at this level is not excusable.
I'd say it has better geometry for our use than the Yuba, so that's a plus.

The rear drop outs on this are a world better than the Yuba. Prior to Kiwi putting out his Yuba torque plates I had a hell time with the rear dops on my Yuba. In my opinion this looks like a much better designed frame, and I am a happy Yuba owner.

Hmmm - The pics on the site seem to show different iterations of the frame, notably with and without the head tube gussets.

The frame looks promising, but for ebike use, a derivative frame (Da-eBomb?) looks like it might not be a big design step. Basically try to better address the dropout and battery space/weight considerations. This could minimally require a little different production jigging aft of the seat tube.

At least:
- lose the two ICE mounts,
- revise the dropouts to eliminate the need for torque arms (thicker, maybe clamping - there doesn't look like much meat on the lower part of the current dropouts),
- add rear stays parallel to the seat tube to further triangulate the rear - this area is filled with wheel, so stays immediately in front of the wheel won't lose usable frame space and should remove some flex,

Da-eBomb.jpg

Maybe (just thinking):
- see what can be done with the seat stay to improve the usable space immediately behind the seat tube (possibly steepen angle, lose stay entirely, or drop it to start halfway down the seat tube (the space between the crankarms is narrow and difficult to use anyway). A fully triangulated frame isn't strictly necessary if some trade is made for tube diameter/thickness (Greyborg) ...
- go to larger chainstay and rack tubes to strengthen the non-triangulated frame region or add gussets to corners of that area (gussets installed parallel to bike centerline could be easily DIY drilled to mount battery box tabs.)

With a 'StokeMonkey' frame bag or box available for a Ping type battery, they would have a fair basic ebike equivalent of their ICE product that would target an audience with approximately the same DIY no-fabrication skill level. The frame, though, would also be ready for CroMotors and big batteries.

My name is Lance, and I am the owner of Design Logic Bikes, I appreciate all of your feedback, first of all I would like to say the road was closed that day so don't worry, I know what i'm doing. Second, we hand build our bikes in the USA and have complete control over what we do, you want disc mounts you can have them. The Da-Bomb frame has been made for an engine and a dual drive hub, the next run of bikes will have different dropouts on the rear that have disc mounts so don't worry we will have them. If your needs are different we can do it, you are not buying some mass produced bicycle, you are buying an american made product. We have a US patent on the design, over 300 test hours on our bikes, and a 9th place finish on the prototype in the 2010 death race.If you have any questions or want a feature on a bike call me and we will make you happy.

We are also sponsoring an east coast race series in the spring for motorized and e bikes, so get your bike ready !!!

Well that puts the ctitics to bed. Anyone building a cargo ebike without considering this frame is an idiot in my opinion.

Good luck mate, great product.

Yea I think this is a great looking frame. I just want to get some feedback before biting the bullet.
Also some of the things I plan on doing to my cargo bike I will soon purchase is built specific to the
model so that makes it hard as well. Still I am glad to see a well made American product being built.

When is the race ? Cause I'm in Philly as it may be an opportunity to see other ebikes other than me,myself and I LOL . I think most people would agree that disc brakes are a must on any motorized bike v brakes just don't cut it especially in Philly due to all the short city blocks and a** hole drivers that don't respect bicyclist in any manner IMO v-brakes should be used in conjunction with disc brake with a double pull lever if your on the cheap if not you can always use hydraulic disc brakes for a sure stop.

Hey Lance would you be interested in modding a steel bike frame for electric bike use for a fair price i may have some ideas you might be able to use for your bikes also ?

Hmmm, well now that's a smidgen passive-aggressive, now isn't it?
1st build: Dahon Jetstream folding bike. Quick, reliable, capable of 30mph. Light enough to lift, folds for easy transport by car/bus/train.
2nd build: RC powered 2009 Norco A-Line. Top speed 31mph. Built like a tank, it's resistant to Boston potholes, can stop on a dime, easily goes up/down curbs when necessary.
3rd build (just started): Scratch build ultimate utility bike. Based on a common power module using a NuVinci left side freewheel.
