20" magic pie, with goodies - SOLD

Postby neptronix » Wed May 23, 2012 2:41 pm

Looks like i am getting shafted on the pike's peak race by the organizer, so i no longer need this motor, and could use the $ to work on other projects. I am also moving and need to lighten the load.

So i am selling the entire high power package for someone to play around with:

+ 2.75" Pirelli moped tire ( $45 )
+ 2 x 3.0 BMX tube ( $10? )
+ the 7 speed DNP freewheel, plus appropriate spacers to make the 7 speed freewheel work ( $25 )
+ the temp sensor head and wiring, and an additional 2 wires hanging out the motor for fans, if you chose to go to a high power cooling setup, like zappy has here: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=38231. ( $15 )
+ the upgraded & shortened phase wires with dual 4mm bullets at the ends.. ( $?? )

The motor cost $180, plus the Canada shipping, which hurt. The motor is now $230 plus Canada shipping.

You can have the whole package for $265, plus shipping to the USA. I ship out of Colorado, via USPS so it will be fairly cheap to get it out.

It is still in perfect condition and hasn't ever been taken over 120c in it's lifetime. Cooling holes were marked out but never drilled. It has never been exposed to the rain and the windings/magnets are good as new. I have probably put 20 hours on the motor, tops.

This motor kicks ass, and in a small wheel will stand up, or exceed what a Crystalyte HT is capable of. With Zappy's cooling mods, it will be even more vicious. It is very efficient and would be amazing in a recumbent trike.

The all-arounder: 8T MAC motor on a Trek 4500.
The girlfriend bike: 350W front MAC on a 700c Trek.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB
The Bus: ??? on a 'da bomb' cargo bike frame

Pro-tips for noobs: Avoid BMS Battery like the plague | Charge RC Lipos to 4.15v, stop discharging at 3.5-3.6v | Use torque plates/arms! | Rear mounted hubs are always best

Very interested. Can you provide shipping guesstimate to Indianapolis, IN 46228?

What total diameter does the moped tire yield? I know it will be too big for my velomobile, but it might fit my Terratrike.

Do you have any interest in keeping the tire if it won't fit?

I can't give you a guesstimate but i can give you a quote tomorrow when i get a moment. I'm thinking it would be under $50 to ship - wild guess.

I don't have a use for the tire unfortunately, but i can take $40 off the price, take the tube off as well ( won't be useful for a smaller tire anyway ), and you end up having the motor with the other goodies for $225. A BMX 2.3" tire fits on this wheel very well.

The total diameter with that big tire is actually 21".

I'd much prefer to sell it as a whole, however. So if anyone wants the entire package, then they get priority.

If the diameter with the Pirelli is 21", I'll take the whole shebang. That'll work beautifully in the Terratrike. I still think it's a bit too big for the Leitra velomobile, but maybe I can figure out a mod.

Question that does not affect the deal - are there halls on this motor?

Any interest in selling a controller with it? If not, no worries.

Yes, there are hall sensors. This plugs into any ordinary ol' infineon controller.

If you want the 4115 18FET i was running, then great. Then you don't have to play with the connectors.

Lyen is selling his 4115 18FET for $259:
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18605

The cell_man unit i have is identical, has the R12 mod has been done to it for regen up to about 99.5v, I have the LVC set to 18.5v which should translate to about 24-30v after the R12 mod. The controller has never been above room temp in it's whole life, lol. It's set to about 62A and, i think 150A phase? You'll definitely be able to max out the pie with this controller, no question about it.

I'll give you a deal and sell you the controller for $175. You will probably want the 3 speed switch throttle that goes along with it, yes? if so, add $10 And let me know if you want a full-twist type or a half-twist type.

This controller does have a cycle analyst plugin and external regen on/off connector just like the lyen unit.

I will also throw in my precharge unit if you want it. It's a freebie. I won't be playing with high voltage anymore so it's yours if you want it.

I will also throw in the torque plates from my Trek if you think you have a use for them. I'm feeling nice today

Perhaps you could drill holes into your frame and/or use the rack eyelets etc. to secure these on the trike. They've held 8000w of torquey peak power. Just an idea. I won't have a use for them anymore.

Thanks nechaus. Even though this bike has no suspension, it totally soaks up a lot of the road bumps/potholes here.
It allows me to do 1000w regen in the rear without skidding, even on uneven surfaces.

For my next high power build, i am going for 3.0 x 24" or 26" tires and hardtail as well. Fat tires = awesome.

Yes to all!

The controller will save me reconfiguring connectors, and leave my stock infineon wired for my HS3548
On throttle, a full twist would work great.
The torque plates will be perfect for my velo conversion - it has large thin plates for dropouts.
Precharge unit might not see immediate use, but it would be great to have on hand.

My math says $265+175+10=$450 + shipping.

Just PM me your paypal address and a shipping cost, and I'll send payment forthwith!

Allright, well you are getting the baker's dozen deal here then!

You will want to order an EB3 infineon controller programming cable from cell_man as i am not parting with mine ;)

Do you want me to get you the slow USPS quote? are you OK with adding insurance? i think that would be best for you as a buyer and me as a seller.

I agree on insurance - best on both fronts.

Based on an assumed size of 25X25X10, and a weight of 35lb, priority mail is $44-50 depending on whether printed online or in a PO. Insurance adds $7 or so. Unless those numbers are way off, that would be my preferred shipping speed.

Let me know a total when you've got it!
