"What the End of the Age of Oil Will Mean to the Global Economy"
("Forget about 'peak oil.' Peak demand is coming, and it could change the world of energy")
https://www.thestreet.com/story/138...e-of-oil-will-mean-to-the-global-economy.html

In part:
The report also explains that the green revolution has just begun to gain traction. Solar and wind energy is expected to continue its "phenomenal" growth. In 2014, they accounted for 4% of all power generation, but could supply as much as 39% by 2060. Nuclear and hydroelectric power will also grow significantly. Coal and oil eventually will be displaced.

Another killer of oil demand will be electric vehicles. Improving technology (particularly battery technology) will reduce the costs and increase the popularity of EVs. It's possible that EVs could outnumber petroleum vehicles by 2030.

Millennial Lithium Retains RK Equity Advisors as Capital Markets Advisor
http://www.financialbuzz.com/millen...ty-advisors-as-capital-markets-advisor-662147

Starts:
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jan 16, 2017) - Millennial Lithium Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ML)(FRANKFURT:A3N2)(OTCQB:MLNLF) ("Millennial" or the "Company") is pleased to announce it has engaged RK Equity Advisors LLC ("RK Equity") of New York as capital markets advisor to assist Millennial in raising its profile in the institutional investment community and sourcing development capital for its lithium projects in Argentina.

Includes:
Howard Klein of RK Equity said "We are strong believers that Argentina will attract significant investment in 2017 and become a substantial, low cost supplier of high purity lithium chemicals to the battery industry as electric vehicles move to mass adoption over the next decade. We are excited to be partnering with Millennial to raise awareness of its flagship Pastos Grandes lithium brine project in Salta Province and Cauchari East in Jujuy province. Millennial's proven technical and advisory team, led by Iain Scarr who brought Galaxy Resource's Sal da Vida through definitive feasibility, as well as strategic advisor Vijay Mehta, gives us high confidence that Millennial will earn a position in the ranks of top lithium companies in the foreseeable future."

I have no financial interest in Tesla etc, except maybe by how much it effects me in buying some hk lipo or 18650 cells in the future. Or maybe some of my interest floats around how many people in the future may end up turning off the fridges at night to save on electricty bills like this poor sod does in aus https://youtu.be/a-OSNLqQ0qU http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2017/s4633511.htm

I was sent this prices chart by someone I know who trades complex markets instruments a week ago now on the price of cobalt which is a key ingredient in Teslas/powerwall lithium cells as we all should know.
To me it looks pretty crippling to the affordability of cheap lithium cells, as it takes the price back 5 years ago with lithium cells were a lot more expensive.
The other thing thats interesting to note is the price of cobalt really started to move just as Teslas gigafactory started production of cells.. in the start of January 2017

Now I wonder if part of Goldman Sachs "Sell" recommendation on Tesla yesterday has to do with the fact key ingredients of lithium cells has gone through the roof?

ES Bible "No suitable matches were found." ... for word "contango". Seen here:
http://marketrealist.com/2017/03/the-crude-oil-futures-spread-and-why-it-could-worry-oil-longs

The Crude Oil Futures Spread, and Why It Could Worry Oil Longs

Contango and oil prices

Active crude oil (USO) (USL) futures are now trading at a discount of $1.56 to futures contracts 12 months from now. This situation is referred to as “contango” in the crude oil futures market and is represented by an upward sloping shape on the futures forward curve.

Notably, such a contango situation indicates the market’s sentiment toward weak crude oil demand right now but also the likelihood of higher demand and higher prices in the future. On February 28, 2017, the spread was at $1.16.

Some might blame those darned ebikers.

Watt??? ESB "No suitable matches were found."... for "Rock Springs Uplift" in Wyoming?
(Wiki:)
The Rock Springs Uplift is an area of uplifted Cretaceous to Eocene rocks in Wyoming surrounded and once covered by sediments of the Green River Formation which were deposited in the Eocene Lake Gosiute. The Rock Springs Uplift formed in the Late Cretaceous through the Eocene and is related to the Laramide orogeny. The structure is a north–south trending anticline with a surface expression of approximately 56 miles (90 km) by 28 mi (45 km). The community of Rock Springs is located on the western margin of the uplift.

Includes:
Jackpot
The latest development that supports that thesis comes from researchers at the University of Wyoming. They've found lithium - a lot of it - in Rock Springs Uplift, a geological feature in southwest Wyoming. Data so far suggests that brines from a 25-square-mile area could contain 228,000 tons of lithium. That's enough to meet annual U.S. demand, and almost twice as much as the reserves from the biggest domestic lithium producer (located at Silver Peak, in Nevada).

Hehe... As an "Investor" (not really) I've tended to watch "2nd tier" industries... With the recent flood of "market research reports" about electric bikes ("folding", etc.) I've basically given up mentioning them all? BUT, here's a "2nd tier" one?

China Cathode Material(NCM/NCA/LFP) Industry PEST Ananlysis and Top 14 Manufacturers in-depth Survey,2017 to 2020 forcast(updated 2017.7)

Starts:
Market size and sales

The cathode material output of China reached 161.6 kilotons in 2016, which increased by 43% on a YoY basis. The growth was mainly driven by a 60% output increase in power battery market. In 2016, the growth of China’s cathode material production value (RMB 20.8 billion in 2016, increased by 54%) was faster than its output due to the continuous pricing increasing.

The NCM&NCA output of China was 54.3 thousand tons in 2016 with a growth rate of 48.8%; production value increased over 60% to RMB 7.98 billion. It accounts the highest production value share in major 4 kinds of cathode materials. Q1 of 2017 still maintained a high growth posture with a 68% increase in production. The boom of NCM&NCA shipments were mobilized by the keen demand from China’s electric vehicle, electric bicycle and mid-low-end digital markets. It is estimated that by 2020 the demand of NCM and NCA in China will grow to 208 and 20.4 kilotons respectively on the basis of in 1kwh battery energy will consume 1.3 kg NCM/NCA.

Fitvia : Electric bike sales are rising in Philly; they make commuting easier :
http://www.4-traders.com/FITVIA-COR...n-Philly-they-make-commuting-easier-25435419/

Starts:
Nov. 03--Much is riding on the Electric Bike Expo, a new extension of the Philly Bike Expo re-convening Saturday and Sunday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

U.S. sales have been falling in most bike categories, down 5 percent this year through September, reported the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association.

But battery-powered "pedal-assist" e-bikes -- which put the wind beneath your wings -- are bucking the trend and appealing to all ages.

With styles expanding, drive trains improving, and prices dropping, "they are one of the only growing sales categories" (along with bicycle motocross) "in bikes," said Brian McKinney of Advanced Sports International, the Northeast Philadelphia-based global-maker and seller of strong brands (Fuji, SE, Krestrel, Oval Concepts, Phat Cycles, Breezer, Tuesday) and proprietor of 106 Performance Bicycle shops across the United States.

8)

Goes on:
"European and Asian cyclists have been way ahead of us in shifting to e-bikes," McKinney said, with the category selling 3.5 million units a year. As of two years ago, ASI sold only one e-model in the U.S., and just one in 100 bikes sold domestically was electric. "But this year we have nine different e-bikes in our U.S. Fuji, Breezer and Tuesday brand lineup," he noted. Models now extend beyond touring bikes to multi-terrain and casual beach cruisers, with the latter, a coming-next-month rear-drive Fuji Sanibel, going for $1,399. ASI is bullish that U.S. e-bikes sales will collectively hit 200,000 units this year, and reach 500,000 + in a few years. And at Performance Bicycle shops, "we're looking to create a separate section for them."

Hehe... "citified fat tires"...

Hehe... Lately, "market research reports" have been flooding out about bicycles... with the "major growth category" being bikes with battery-electric assist... so much so that I can't keep up... have sorta stopped listing them all in ES Newz... BUT, as an investor (which I'm not) I'm watching "Second tier" industries? ... and while anything new in battery chemistries - higher energy density per weight - is "big"... today, here's one regarding bike BRAKES. With the theory being that bikes with motors and batteries are "heavier"... though when the weight of the rider and "stuff" carried as "cargo" is included... I'm not so sure... anyway.
