My Go-Ped ESR 750 Sport 24Ah

Postby surfnturf » Tue May 12, 2009 2:00 pm

Hey guys, new to E-S though I've been reading it for a while, I'm from GoPedNation originally. Anyways, just thought I'd post a pic of my daily rider E-Scooter, ESR 750 Sport. I recently upgraded it to 24Ah worth of B&B EVP12-12s (4 for 2s2p) and now have greatly increased range, probably better than 10 miles. Here's a pic, sorry for the quality but my phone is my camera.

Here's a few more. In the second one you can see how thick the deck is now to house the batteries.

For those of you who don't know, this 24v scooter runs a 750+Watt 4 brush electric motor. It rolls on 6.5 inch hard tires and has caliper brakes. Two modes: Econo: est 12-14 mile range at 12-15mph Turbo: est: 6-7.5 mile range. I use Turbo only when climbing a hill, making an evasive maneuver through traffic or making up some time on a long flat stretch. Today I did about 7 miles total and the batteries never ran down as far as losing even a bit of performance or the green light power indicator on the handlebar mounted "Flux Capacitor" voltmeter. This performance means weight though, 4 12v12Ah batteries are much bigger than the original B&B HR6-12 6Ah batteries or the last set of Tempest TR9-12 9Ah batteries I had in it. We'll see how well it does with the new power supply on board.

I still have mine. I did try to sell it a couple of times but now I'm keeping it since the wife and I can ride tandem on it around town. It's great not having to hunt for parking! I've given some thought to outfitting mine with LiPo batts.

Yeah, as good as these EVP12-12s are you definitely pay the weight penalty for the extra range. 4 LiPo packs from PMW would mean 30+ miles of range on econo and 15+ on turbo all while removing the need for ANY of the deck spacers and losing at least 20lbs.

Nice. Those are about the only half decent small stand-up electric scooters you can find. I guess I should fix my old Zappy someday. I think it would run about even with one of those.

I've ridden a Zappy before and if it's fully charged and in good shape it should run about the same as the ESR in Econo mode. I can't help but love whipping by some arrogant road biker at 20+mph on power sucking Turbo mode though! I see you're in the Bay Area as well, I'm in Rohnert Park, very close to ZAP central in Santa Rosa.

Small world. I'm in San Rafael, so not too far.

My Zappy was highly modified, running 24v with a forced-air cooled, rewound, re-magneted motor. It did about 20mph on flat ground, but was really geared for climbing. Yes, it's always fun to pass the lycras.

Very sweet! I bet it was quite the little street terror, not to mention dangerous if you retained the stock ZAP "shock absorber" (aka fold up on you while riding and scare out any and all bejeezus!). I know why you think it would hang with the mod Zappy though if you've ridden one, I have the old 200A limit controller and Turbo mode is beastly! On the subject of ZAP, you wouldn't happen to know how to rebuild a ZAP DX motor set would you? I have one that has a good controller but motors seem to be damaged. Can't get it apart though, doh!
