By useful watt-hours, I mean among the batteries that you actually use. I'm not talking about the Lead that you abandoned a year ago, I'm talking about the batteries you use now-a-days.

Also, post if you will, how many watt-hours would you like to have?

I'd like to have 1.5 kWh, so I can get a range greater than 20 miles at 35 mph moped style riding. That'd make riding an electric moped practical. I'm so far only about 500 wh away which is probably less than 300-400 dollars away. I just need to determine how many more watt-hours of the booster pack I need and acquire that, and supplement and reconfigure the capacity packs as needed.

Edit: I just realized I typed in "What many "useful watthours" do you have?". Am I slowly forgetting the constructs of the English language?!
 
I probably have a useful 800Wh at least in the LiFe pack, but I don't know for sure, since I don't have a meter on it and I'd have to ride too long to wear it out.

I voted 400Wh for the LiPo pack I'll be using soon-ish. Figure 444Wh nominal and I might lose 10% of that on particularly hard rides, so it sounds about right. :?
 
I have 740 WH worth of matched lipo for my bike, though I often run with only 370 watts on the bike. easier to charge only what I need.

I also have a 37V 8AH lipo that only has 50% capacity left, but it's a solid 4Ah battery I use on my other bike. it was made from the cells that didn't puff from 2 packs that died. It could die any day, but it preforms flawlessly so far and weighs less than a 37V 4Ah LiFePO4, so I keep using it.
 
Roughly 300wh of lead, tho it seems I dont ever use that much. Weighs a fuckton, or 1.6 shitloads in USofA units. Could get away with less if my current ebike didn't suck so much.
 
I have total of 1.7 kilowatt hour of makita's :wink: i could carry on the trike but in most cases i bring 744 watthour of power.
I also always carry a 9 amp charger and top up anywhere i can along the ride. :D
 
When I was configured for cross-country I had about 8kWh available; never got to the bottom of that pack as I would employ opportunity charging when the need was desired. For commuting, I run about 1.9kWh.

I am running battery packs of 36V Bosch Fatpacks. Each module is 4 BFP (4P) giving 300 watts each. I have 5 modules with 1500 watts of power.
 
So the packs can put out 1500 watts maximum, or continuous...but how many watt-hours (Wh) do they have? Meaning, how long can they sustain that 1500W?
 
I have two packs at 4.6AH and 66V of the a123 so a bit over 600wh soon to be 900 but I don't carry any more than I need so most often run with just over 300wh as it gets me most places I want to go. A little over 1KW would get me 50 miles down the road and I would have not have to ride so conservatively. Still carrying around 21LBS of batts does not sound like all that much fun. Yes I know Lipo is lighter but just by a little and it doesn't last as long.
 
I've got 800Wh of lipo on the bike plus an extra 1300Wh that I throw in a backpack if I'm going on a long trip, although I hardly ever go far enough to need it. I can easily make 15 miles with the 800 hauling ass around town at ~35mph :D
 
My pack is rated at 888Wh, and I can get 750 out of it without complaint.

I'd like 5-10kWh, but I will probably just end up tossing 8 more packs on, for about 1.5kWh useable capacity.
 
Hmm...I just realized I never actually posted an answer here:

On CrazyBike2, I used to have about 350Wh usable, with the 36V SLA, 3x 18/20Ah, and that was about 45lbs, with around 8-10 usable Ah, IIRC.

Then I upgraded to a used 48V NiMH, 13Ah (more like 9-10 usable, IIRC), for something like 400-450Wh, for what I think was around 25-ish lbs.

Now it's a used/repaired 48V LiFePO4, originally 20Ah but now around 12Ah, and maybe 25-30lbs, I think (I'd have to weigh it again, I can't remember for sure). It gets around 600Wh of usable power before LVC.

For a time I ran both the NiMH and the LiFePO4 packs, and could switch from one to the other as needed, so the most I've had was about 1KWh on the bike at a time, I guess.

(there is also a 12V NiMH lighting pack on there, of around 8-9Ah usable, but I don't count that in the total as it's not usable for traction due to damage and sag; it's another 100Wh or so, at most, though).

Most of the time, I do not use more than 1/4 of the LiFePO4 pack's capacity, but there are reasonably frequent trips that do use up to nearly all of it; enough to justify having that much (even if it wasn't for the pack type requiring that much just to function as a traction pack for C-rate). It's also nice to not *have* to recharge every time I come home from work, as there are some shifts that are so close together I don't ahve time to do all the other necessary stuff, much less remember to charge the bike. :roll:
