Thank you Sir!
...seems a bit buried though, as a sub-forum? Once scooters have taken over the world can this be rearranged? (guessing so)
Also, if I hunt down some existing threads and feed you the links can these scattered scooter bits be moved here?
Cheers

Very COOL 8) Our ranks may be small for now, but I think we are growing. I will try to generate some interest from other stand-up E scooter enthusiasts on the only other message board that has a dedicated stand-up E-Scooter forum.

I've already moved a few threads here. If you send me links to the others you want moved, I'll do them, too.

I'm stoked

been hangin' mostly around the battery forum, but now I have a new place to haunt

Thank you very much Fetcher

BTW, I'm obsessed with Goped electrics... we on GPN (Goped Nation) forum have been making many strides forward recently including headway battery conversions and the amazingly powerful Torkinator brushed motor 8)

I just moved it from being a sub-forum to a being a regular forum. Not so hidden anymore.
Hey, I started out on a Zappy, so I have a lot of respect for the little guys.

Again, if there are any old topics in other forum sections you would like to move there, just let me or any moderator know and they can move the thread.

I see, it's my fault, eh? LOL... I see it as much more of a collaborative effort than any one person or thread. Lock and ES mods are the important ones to thank IMO.

I'll buy the 1st round...

But I prefer to think that we're not so much "illegal" as simply not well-defined in regard to many DMV codes. If my foot is touching the ground then I'm a pedestrian, am I not? The scooter does provides assistance holding my other foot off the ground but where in the law does it state that people must have 2qty feet/legs to be considered a pedestrian?

Well, at least we have one state DMV code to introduce as precedent in the event a court battle ever becomes neccessary? In this climate of alternative energy awareness and public sentiment with regard to reliance on foreign oil, I like my odds... Especially, if I never do anything dangerous to others' in the 1st place.

This is true. But, sadly, "motorized foot scooters" are explicitly banned in many jurisdictions. I think this has to do more with those noisy gas foot scooters by teenagers who harass pedestrians on the sidewalk and such, which is kind of a sad cause for a broad-reaching ban. But, I'm going to guess that "Motorized" was a synonym for gas-powered during the law's creation, which is obviously not the case anymore.

Very true about those gassers - at one point NYC actually had a ban that explicitly used the word "GoPed" in the language for those little guys. However, that was later modified to allow electric Gopeds but the confusion still remains. Especially when GOPED is in huge letters on your deck.

I think a smart law should address the issue of wheel size. it's too damned important to the safety of riding these things on streets. 10" OD tires/wheels and under are really too small to use in/around the NYC area on streets IMO. It doesn't take much of a pothole to swallow that little tire and turn you into a stunt rider. That's partly the reason I built what I built because of my years of experience riding an ESR.
