Modding to what? I'd think the frames would be good enough up to 1000 watts. Above that, seriously strong frames get to be a very good idea.

The suspension design and rear shock look real good to me on the 3.0 , and the fork is easy to swap for better if you really need it.

Yeah I like the rear suspension on the 3.0 too. I was thinking of going with two hub motors basically exactly the same set up as GrayKard http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14109&p=214311&hilit=+two+wheel+drive+#p210144 only I would need frame mounted batteries somehow. probably use their battery and the battery box/mount from the xtreme scouters folding e-mountain bike(xb-310li).

Only I would probably use the hub motor already in the back and add a cute motor in the front. I don't know what their hub motor is though and the only thing they will say about it is it has a 6 to 1 planetary gear reduction.

The only thing wrong with the 3.0 Ridge is folding wise. It folds very large with the long travel front fork when they could have gone with a colapsable air fork and angled the folding hinge differently to make the front of the frame tuck in tighter.

Product packages like this are an improvement, but at $1600 for the mountain bike? It does use a lithium battery pack, but a 250W motor is a little weak.

The Amped-bikes 750W geared rear hub is $450 (without battery and charger), and that would leave $1150 for a battery/charger, and a bike.

I don't know of many folding bikes that have a front and also rear suspension, so that may make it worth considering. But if you don't need for the bike to fold, I'm certain you could save a lot of money using other options.

It is kind of pricy. Definately needs more power.
I like folding full suspension ebikes. In the city: the folding aspect makes it twice as flexible, the electricity makes it twice as convenient, and the full suspension makes it twice as stable and attractive. I'm just sayin.

After some Googling, I haven't found any full-suspension 26" folders other than this one. hundreds of folders, some full sized 26"-ers (good for pot-holes and curbs), one full-sized folder with front suspension.

This is the only one with all that plus rear suspension and a front disc. I still think its overpriced, but unless you want to start building your own frames, this may be the only one of its specific category...

PS having a front disc with skewers instead of nuts on the axle makes the front wheel able to VERY easily pop on and off without any tools. I like mine that way.

I got to overconfident about the security level around my house so one night i forgot to lock the wheel and it got stolen. My carelessness may also have been due to it being my first DIY ebike and so wasn't very user friendly and didn't have very good battery mounting -> high center of gravity.

I like the looks of the Ridge 3.0 alot, especially how it has twice as much suspension travel as the previous ones and it has good battery mounting and plenty of space under the frame for another battery. And that scewer thing that would let me put the wheel back on easily sounds like it could be useful for folding, although I may go for 2wd.

There are also plenty of much more affordable "folding full suspension" mountain bikes on ebay if you search that.

It has the classic "8fun" Bafang.
Its a pedal assist bike, so it feels like 500W. But its actually around 350W. Perfectly adequet for the city if your interested in safety at all.

Its 1.6K from sears. definately worth the extra money compared to the XB-310Li pictured above.

Exactly my thoughts, But I feel like the cute motors may be a superior to the bafang with their helical gears. Since its a folding bike it would be good to keep the wieght down by using the lightest hubbie on the market, thats why I like the idea of dual cute-108s like yours but a 19mph top speed at 48V is a bit low... Its hard enough to find convenient off the shelf batteries at 36V. I would like a top speed around 25-30mph. Do you know whats limiting your to the top speed? Could it be controller RPMs or did you get motors wound for torque?

From the looks of it, that link isn't going to work, but here are some correct prices;

Sears, $1359, looks like local store pick-up is available. Various "to house" shipping options.

Google Products, $1244. Doesn't say about shipping, looks like needs to create an account to find out.

Amazon(a bunch of retailers), $1499 plus shipping.

Looks like Sears is the best Deal.

I got interested because Pricesmart(Dept. stores in Latin Amer. and Carib.) now carries a limited line of E Moto bikes
(although not the 3.0 at the moment). The Nicaragua store, for instance sells the 2.0 for $1249 plus local tax.
The import duties are already paid, so that is a great deal down there.

Stig, did you ever mount dual Cute 128's like you were planning?

How about an up-dated review of the 3.0, now that you have had it a year.

I kept the bike stock and it's still going strong. We liked it so much my sister got one too. Its a really stable bike and really smooth ride. The only problem we ever had with them were the optional thumb throttles don't work. But its better used as a pedaltec bike. They now ship them with blinky lights which i thought was a good touch.

Seems like a nice bike. But I personally don't like the battery mount -- looks kind of strange. Otherwise, the folding feature is nice and the full suspension is a bonus. Still seems pricey for a 24V/250W setup. Hopefully the bicycle components are decent...

It looks like a strange place for a battery but it makes sense if you actually try the bike. Handling wise thats a better place to have the weight of the battery than on a rear rack. Besides this battery is really light. 1 or 2kg. Plus it's easy to lock and unlock, turn on and turn off the battery where it is.
