Oh Man, you guys beat me to the adaptor plate suggestion. :D

Also, I aree with Hillhater. My Astro drives come with fancy CNC machined 3mm thick CF washers under the motors screw heads. They will not fit your screws or I would have included them for you. However, anything is better than nothing.

I am looking forward to your completion!

Recumpence is a GOD!!!

Postby AussieJester » Wed Oct 06, 2010 3:59 am

Finished wiring and fitting the motor this afternoon, slight hiccup with the old Magura throttle
some may recall i repositioned the gear on the pot to eliminate the throttle start up 'dead spot'
when using the fecther throttle interface, well, this was causing issues, after setting it back to original
it worked how it should AND no dead spot  & BOY does it work, Matt you are a GOD!! The interface you supplied
me has improved the throttle 110% its now PERFECT absolutely brilliant smooth acceleration i am so
rapt, even low throttle is PERFECT motor ticks over like it has halls!! i can ride slower than walking pace now
its just superb simply couldn't be improved upon Matt you ARE the man.

The wiring ... i frocking hate doing it, no no despise doing it, thankfully though this was all straight forward, sleeved most of the wiring
also added a 'on/off' switch for the power to the HV160, i had allowed for a switch on the enclosure just never got to installing one
I have a missile switch from the ol trike but blowed if i could find the dam thing, shall hunt down a carbon fibre
missile cover and pops it on this switch ASAP-->

Below pic shows the ESC/throttle interface connection pulled out, this is also the lead used
to download the data log from the HV160 hence i have made it easily accessible :-)

The new motor as i touched upon is so much better made, it does draw slightly higher no load speed due to the skirt bearing something like
2amp more than the V1 motor if that, the addition of the skirt bearing though IMHO far outweighs this, the old motor with shit stock
bearings wobbled from new, this V2 is rock solid no play whatsoever, only downside is (and some will likely laugh)
the frocking thing doesn't whine at full speed like the old one did, bit bummed about this so i will try and find
a small bladed fan to attach to the outside so it makes some turbine sound, heres a lil clip of it turning
at full speed, its noticeably quieter as i am sure you bionic hearing equipped gents will notice ;-P

I downloaded the data logging from the hv160 pleasantly surprised to see a max of 2.9v ripple I have set the
esc to the mildest settings possible 160amp she peaked around 6000watt on short ride out front of my house
still pulls like a train from stop to WOT, i will leave it like this now, i want this to be reliable for daily use, the new bike
will take over the role of being out of commission for long spells LOL...

Matt.P and myself are possibly off on a ride day tomorrow or Friday, expect ALOT of video footage i have two 808
spy cameras Matt also has one plus i have my cannon...back with more then...

Deecanio you won't believe the control, I wasted MONTHS perservering with the throttle interface i could kick myself (if legs worked HAHAHA)
bin the throttle interface and throttlizers and get Recumpence to hook you up guys or if your the DIY type, Matt i believe has destruction on how to assemble these, i know i have the plans i downloaded them from here, the BEC side of it works from 12-60v so only need to tape into your main power leads simple.

Flymonkie Flymonkie Flymonkie my poor poor Aussie wannabe Kiwi friend :P  Yeah bud it is GREAT to have the bike back again after a few months out of commission, TBH though, until few weeks ago it has been rather wet and miserable as it has been winter time here, heading into summer now so bikes up and running at the right time...OH and AJ dont do pies very often, i get me a freshly made chicken and salad on wholegrain roll BARGAIN for $4.50 they are HUGE and gives me a great excuse to ride to the shops ... HAHAHA...

Shall definitely have ride videos up, hopefully all goes well if it is going to break it will break on a ride day with Matt as i will give it utter shit tomorrow with all the cameras up, we shall truly see the performance of the frockV's the H.O.B.O (High output Brushless Outrunner  ) hrmz...i should of asked Matt if he could bring his trailer up, he's been driving his new Audi up lately (maaan what beaudiful car they are too :druuuuel::) with the frock MTB on the roof... :: looks around for tow rope:: Still love his Toyota V8 powered 1972-3? Matt? BMW though thing FLOGS, right number of cylinders in both cars too Luke :P none of this 4 pot front wheel drive nonsense

Cheers guyz

KiM

p.s I am also abstaining from drinking ANY alcohol till Christmas in an effort to save every cent to get the new bike up and running before Christmas, am quietly confident of succeeding on both goals...two of my supportive mates have bet against me remaining alcohol free though hahaha bastards... :: lights spliff:: i'll showz them :-P

Unfortunately it sounds the same Gary, that video, that was actually full throttle mate
thats all she has in her noise wise im afraid :-( AND the CNC cover isn't even on so theres a lil more chain noise than usual, i kept it off for two reasons, 1) i like to check the grub screws post firt ride to ensure they are all seated right and 2) blowed if i know what size allen screw Matt.S used on these covers or how i got it on before i tried all my keys around that size imperial and metric none fit MaaaaaaaaTT you did this just to mess with me didn't you, i can see him now plotting " this will confuse that crazy Aussie...:: evil Recumpenc laugh:: " LoL... I think ill tap them out with some good ol metric jobs...That'll show 'im

Hmm thats nice Kim, throttle control looks amazing you may turn me yet ha ha

Really pleased you got the bike running again and I dont blame you one bit toning the power down a bit to keep it reliable. Just need to get DC to do his now! if his bike has a smooth throttle like that and is reliable he is going to be 1 happy chap indeed, I do hope the controller hangs in there.

I am not against that high pitched whine either! people step off the pavement all the time as they cant hear me coming, noise is no bad thing.

Looking forward to seeing the ride videos as well, the link to the rc bike you posted earlier up the youtube video was cool as well, pretty darned nippy and not noisy, nice..looking on with interest here! if you guys can get plenty of reliable miles under your belts with these setups then they will be serious contenders.

Keep up the good work AJ and jeez no booze till xmas,,, ill drink to that on Friday night  hiccup!

ShiT reminds me, was meant to pick up some spokey dokies and bar tassles to put on my mates Harley Gayvidson <-(those easily offended by swearing best not click that link :P ) next time he gets on the piss and passes out, i think he will have much love for me, i already measured the spoke size so i know what to drill the bicycle spokey dokies out to  (you can see now i actually take it pretty easy on you HiGHSiDE compared to the shit i give my mates in person)

hrmz...likely story Mr Recumpence i have a sneaking suspicion you made the bolts especial to mess with me HAHAHA  no worries
Matt, i shall either file a key or tap and replace with slightly larger metric size, its still got me beat what i used to do
them up the first time i installed it, i do remebr i couldnt get a key to fit exactly but well enough to nip them up. I have 4 complete
sets of imperial and metric sets...except for the one i need of course...why does that always happen :: sigh ::

I said the ride video would be this afternoon Deec as in Thursday afternoon the post i made of the new throttle install was Wednesday late afternoon...IF Matt can make it this afternoon you will see a ride video this evening if not Matt said he will be able to make it Friday arvo..I wont do this on my own as i won't be taking the wheelchair as there are't paths for alot of the journey so it will likely be close to 100% road trip .I actually just this second finished mapping out our route-->

Ride Day Route.JPG
Ride Day Route.JPG (90.75 KiB) Viewed 599 times

Our last ride we turned left off Welshpool onto Pomeroy, right onto Lawnbrook Rd left onto Aldersyde Rd all through
this area is quite picturesque then left on Mundaring Weir Rd...
I thought this time round we will go out a tad further in to the bush, might even see some roos ;-) (Kangaroos)
We had lil under half out packs gone last ride this should take it to 75-80% if we keep up a 35-40km/hr pace all the way...

I tried calling mate few minutes ago to see if he knows if he can get away today or not and if he can bring the trailer in case
of breakdown hehe ...you shall just have to wait im afraid Deec :( ... I have my pack charged to 4.18 ish per
cell usually i top them off at 4.15v every little bit will help on this route at least half of the route is up hill, i'll
kill that frock of Matt's yet or break mine trying LMAO... :P

Run em up to 4.22, just to be sure :P
What's the round trip distance ?

You need a 'backup bike' the loser has to ride home in the case of failure, like they do in the topgear challenges.
I suggest it should be a pink girls bike with a 24v bafang kit on it

Seeing all but two of these packs have been overcharged to 5v pierced/de-puffed/re-sealed i think keeping them around 4.15v is the best
bet to get some life out of the pack, they are remaining well balanced still which is positive, i checked each individual cell yesterday
before putting 11ah back into the pack, they had been sitting for what 2 months i guess? all were still in the 3.80v range non
'higher than 3.90v...amazing what these new lipos can withstand IMO...

Yes you rbike is ::cough:: lovely Hyena, which frock is destined for this one mate? May i suggest your 'My Little Pony' decorated number

I'm no decorator (i believe this is "your kinds" area of expertise is it not? :P ) but wouldn't the stickers you have adorned the frock with
match with the pink fluff you have attached to the frame?

EDIT: i just noticed the hibiscus Hawaiian shirt on the manikin behind the bike, is that the shirt you were raving about that you bought the other day? only gay men or party animals can pull of Hawaiian shirts ..we all know which you are buddy no confusion there :P

Sorry mate, I can't help you with the spoke length, my brain is still a little fried after a long night out partying. Yeah thats right, on a wednesday night :P

You'll want pretty short spokes for that one in a 20" rim - around 93mm (77mm if you radially lace it) depending on the actual ERD of the rim you use.
