Controller work

Postby markcycle » Wed Jan 26, 2011 9:01 am

I finally decided to start working with a 18 fet controller and then I'll move onto a 24 Fet unit. I had a bad experience with a cap shorting out on a 24 fet unit awhile back, of course i didn't fuse the battery and the explosion at the time was spectacular.

I want to start by saying the wealth of information on this forum is amazing and I couldn't wouldn't have attempted any of this without the information freely given here. In that sprite I'm showing my work and freely sharing what I'm doing. This is all best shown in pictures.
So far I've gone to 100 volts @ 100 amps using the 4110 Fet which is standard Spec for this design. Whats important to us is being able to stay at half throttle and not have the Fets overheat. It's the switching when in current limit that's hard on these controllers, not full on (nothing new to those who work with these units)

I still need to add fan cooling and I'm going to add a circuit to add independent throttle variable Regen. In my opinion this is a must.
