i started this project a little while ago and just recently finished. i thought i share this e project with you guys since it is a stand up scoot, and its electric...lol.
so i started out with a goped sport model from the bare frame. i meant to put the 2stroke motor intended for it on this thing, but i couldnt find one. so plans changed for the better.
this is what i started with:

i specifically made this one smaller, so i can bring it to school with me to cruise on campus. as you can see the size of it is signifigantly smaller than my propane powered goped.

the two of them side by side. surprizingly their power ratings are similar. the propane one with 1hp peak and the rc motor with 800w continuous.


then it started to come together:


the fenders on these are known to break off so mines didnt have one when i received it, so i did some angle grinder art with it:


at this point its finished in its testing phase. as you can see it is smaller than the bigger one, probably around 75% smaller, hence its name. the boot is size 7 for a size reference(yes, i know i have small feet):

amazing that these two batteries have pretty much the same energy.

its up and running. and its tons of fun so far. this thing is quick and i wasnt expecting it to be this powerful at all. i shouldve left it the normal size. it only has the front brakes, so i was trying to stop it quickly, so i grabbed a handful of brake and ended up going over the bars. good thing i bailed in time before i landed on my face. i raced it against my propane powered one with my brother riding it, and i was riding the electric, and they were pretty much neck to neck, and at times beating it. boy, this thing gives me the EV grin!


the specs on this thing are:
-goped sport model, miniaturized
-exceed monsterpower 46 motor, 50-55, 670kv
-0.650 inch drive spindle
-mystery 80A ESC
-diy 555 timer servo tester
-4x blue lipo 11.1v 3000mah 20c, configured in 2s2p fopr total of 22.2v 6000mah pack.
-still need a charger, using a 3s balance charger but its not doing its job at all.

Looks fun. A few questions, if you don't mind.

- What's the total finished weight of the scooter?
- Is it friction drive?
- Top speed?
- What's the power consumption? Wh/mile, at what speed?

to answer your questions:

-total weight: i dont have a scale for official weighing but i would say around 20 lbs. this thing is lighter than the propane one.
-yes it is friction drive. i kept the original drivetrain intended for it, which was spindle drive also when it was gas powered
-top speed: i would say around 20mph. it kept up with the propane one i have and was able to beat it also. but i dont think i topped it out. this thing speed wobbles and it scares me. i dont have the guts to do stuff like i did when i was younger, and i also realized im not invincible(so i thought i was when i was a teenager...lol)
-power consumption: no numbers on that yet. my wattmeter is on the bike and i currently dont have it in my possession at the moment.

this thing is literally freshly built also. this weekend was the first time ive actually ridden it because thats when i got my lipo. right now im just testing to see if parts fall off. this thing is fun and it totally caught me off guard. i was thinking it was going to be like my propane scooter, but i was totally wrong. this thing surprisingly hauls ass for its size.

Ok, let me know when you get a chance to measure the power consumption. Here are my numbers for a 200 lbs (60+140rider) stand-up scooter with 12" wheels. All these #s are obtained from rides at least 7 miles long. mph is the AVERAGE speed for the whole trip (the max speed is higher).

ok, so in reference to this thread, viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25827, i killed my rc controller. i think the reason for it is the fact i rode it at low speed and partial throttle, which probably isnt good for a controller in general. so i gotta get a new controller, probably of the same kind i was using before, which is the mystery brand. better hit up ebay to find one! in the mean time, ill be riding my "stinkmobile" since i dont have my bike with me at the moment.

hi, how is the scooter going?

i have an old goped sport in my shed and I am considering converting to electric.

Just wondering if you used the a standard goped drive spindle? and how did you attach it to the outrunner?

so far its still running, except for the few hiccups that i had with it like getting the controller wet and blowing it. and letting a 250 lbs. person ride it and blow the controller. other than those few incidents, its been perfect.

i am using a standard goped spindle, a .675 drive spindle to be exact. i have it attached to the 8mm output shaft on my motor and its held in place with a set screw.
but first you have to drill out the hole of the spindle to get it to fit on the motor shaft. i believe i used a 8mm drill bit to do that. you might want to double check the measurements:

you can see the set screws that i used to lock the drive spindle in place

i am still running a 50-55 sized motor with a 670kv motor. but i think i got away with this setup because i dont weigh much, around 125 lbs. 580kv might be better and will be easier on the controller. i dont recommend high kv unless you are gonna run a small spindle.
