OKC: Yuba Mundo Cargo Bike V3-**REDUCED** 450$

Postby loslosbaby » Wed Dec 01, 2010 12:10 am

Its reduced again, headed toward the center of the earth to find its true value. I'm reducing it because I
must sell it. Yep, I have proof of righteous purchase from Joe Bike in Portland, OR. MUCH more detailed pics!
http://gallery.me.com/loslosbaby#100088 ... &view=grid

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!

REDUCED TO $450, but you have to come get it or we make arrangements for shipping, mileage etc.

I have 2010 Yuba Mundo 21sp in Orange for sale. I talked to one of your members Seriousknot, and
he advised me that I should put my Yuba up for sale here, as there are (apparently) literally
hundreds of lunatics that think bikes can be converted to e-bikes :)

(What's funny was that people were doing this very same thing with gas 100 yrs ago, but,
maybe its only me that thinks thats a new observation).

Here's the info from my Craigslist posting:

FOR SALE: 2010 Yuba Mundo "Third Version" Cargo 21sp Orange

This is the v3 Yuba Mundo Cargo Bike, as shown on the yubaride web site:

http://www.yubaride.com/mundo-cargo-bike
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oAxs0SQ8_Q
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcF8ceez ... re=related
http://www.flickr.com/photos/markstos/s ... 940164001/
(the flickr set shows some electric conversion too)

Picture of actual bike is the 1st one, against the fence (link FIXED!):
http://gallery.me.com/loslosbaby#100088 ... &view=grid

It has a cargo capacity of 200lbs, comes with the built-in cargo deck which is 32" long,
two cargo outrigger "loops" so you can set things on, or fashion your own cargo boxes
(those clear bins with flip-tops or rubbermaids are awesome!). I also put a cooler on
mine (100 can) which literally is cool!

This bike is the "ding/dent special" and has some scratches on paint that I didn't
put there...no tube dings. It has always been a garaged, and it shows. (first picture
with wheel backwards against the fence is the actual bike, up at Lake Hefner)

This bike is over 1100$ new, and is so big its 150$ min. to ship it. Asking 800$
in OKC. I can bring it to you (in my van) to let you ride it and see if a cargo
bike is for you.

Notes:
- Its big!
- Its long, but surprisingly not slow steering (that's why the wheel flops back)
- It rides SMOOTH, because of the long wheelbase
- Big tires, Big hubs, LOTS of spokes!
- Replaced seat clamp with ultra-strong clamp, otherwise not a single problem
- Practically a bike taxi out of the box
- Comes with chrome fenders (generic) unmounted and mirror
- Has a disc brake bracket on the fork already
- Does not come with lights shown
- Very often converted to electric boost
- Easy to put on passenger pad/stoker bars (See mundo accy store:
Accys: http://yubaride.com/yubashop/6-utility- ... ccessories
Parts: http://yubaride.com/yubashop/7-mundo-utility-bike-parts

If you're interested, please send me a PM, with your phone number and I'll call you.
The bike is in OKC, but I'll go as far as Fort Smith AR, Dallas, TX, Wichita KS, and
Amarillo, TX to sell it. I have a van so its not going to get wet/dirty etc.

Thanks!

G.

G,
If you electrified that baby no way you would want to sell it. You're ahead of the curve and more than halfway there, because by 2015 electric cargo bikes will be the new SUV.

Oh man, I dig it I really do. I am selling this bike to purchase a Bike Friday. I literally want to have a bike with me no matter where I go. I need a bike I can take specifically on a bus, plane, train etc., that will hold a 300lb man. Custom-made BF is the way to go I figure.

When you think of it, a big, electrified bike is really totally different thing, not a bad thing, just a totally different thing. I knew a guy that used to carry his wheelchair around on his R1100GS, its kinda like that. I figure I need to lose around 80 more lbs, after losing 40. An electrified bike won't help me do that unless I'm pushing it.

Now, in the future, you betcha I would rather have an elec bike than not, and like I was talking with Seriousknot about the other day, I think all the development, the products, the results, will happen in the small-form-factor before the cage-form-factor. I think electric skateboards are in a higher state of development than any electric car...and certainly a lot more accessible.

Speaking of accessible: let's get serious... I'm going to lower the price to $700, but you have to come get it or we have to come to an arrangement about mileage. I have a long-body van that gets 16MPG.

That's such a good price on that bike. If I didn't already have my Xtracycle setup I would jump on it for sure.

Perhaps I should be clear as to why I am selling the bike:

...I need a bike that either goes on the bus bike rack, or, in a bag on the bus. Period.

That's a sweet ride, if I had the scratch, I'd take you up on it! Shipping would be a killer though, I am in Oregon.

I could offer you some E-Bike kits in trade, but I'm sure you'd rather have cash for your Bike Friday.

Good luck on the sale! I like that this is a complete frame, Xtra-cycles are nice, but I like this design better.
Thank you Justin_Le for your selfless act of kindness! We all are in your debt.

My latest build: Vision R40 with Golden Motor "800W" Trike motor as mid-drive, NuVinci N171B rear wheel as transmission, 30 MPH on 12S (46V) 12 AH Turnigy Nanotech LiPo (25-50c) able to climb tall hills on a single Amp Hour!

Re: OKC: Yuba Mundo Cargo Bike V3-**REDUCED** 600$

Postby loslosbaby » Wed Mar 09, 2011 9:27 am

Buyer backed out, bike is available again.

Price reduced to 600$. Will drive in a radius to:
- Amarillo
- Dallas
- Wichita
- K.C.
- Little Rock

...for split gas. Please also check out the pics that show the very minor scratches (99% of which are on the outer "cargo hoops" from the previous owner (Joe Bike) putting the bike on its side. The bike will lean over about 45 degrees on the hoops. Also, the bike can be stored up on its tail, btw.

Built like a truck, rides nice (long wheelbase), SIX HUNDRED BUCKS... Hmmm????

$500 is the price of an xtracycle kit, without a bicycle, and this is arguably a better setup. $500 is a ridiculously good price, just a very nichey market...

I bet if you ebayed it you could get what you'd like for it and then some.

All I can say is, if I lived closer to OKC, I would jump on it in a heartbeat for $500. That is, if the frame is my size (I'm 6'3").

I think there is only one size. Why does this have to be in OKC?

Looks way too small for me in the pictures. I'm guessing 17" from bottom bracket to seat post. The bike is in OKC and he said buyer needs to pick up or arrange to meet in surrounding areas--too far from San Antonio.

Do you ever get down to Killeen TX? Thinking out loud, maybe could have it dropped off at my sons and I could pick it up from there.

Follow-up:

1) Thanks for the info guys...I'm going to first show it to a friend, then take it by a bike hangout (fri night beer fun) and then third put it on ebay.

2) Yep, amazingly so, you got it, its 17" from bottom of b-bracket to top of frame seat tube. Seat is adjusted for a man with a 30" inseam.

Thanks again ES!

Good luck with the sale. If this were in the Bay Area, there would be a line outside your door.

Postby loslosbaby » Sat Mar 12, 2011 4:08 pm

Clarification, and something one should consider:

If you're gonna have a cargo bike in your life, odds are you're going to pay insanely high shipping...

Simply put the Mundo, the Bakfiets etc., don't ship as a "bike". They ship on a pallet. 125-150$ is the minimum, so, if you're considering mine, or any other bike that has to be shipped, same is the same.

I can ship you my Mundo for about 125-150$ with a freight service, or, you can buy one new for 1100$ and they'll ship it for 125-150$. Check it out.

Thanks again guys--I think we're close on closing this chapter.
