This is so cool in the pits right now.

We re-valved and re springed our suspension, tuned the controller up a lot, drilled new cooling holes. Other teams all around us are doing similar things. One team smoked 2 agnis. One team smoked an AC50 motor that had huge forced air cooling. A smoked controller or two. BMS failures.

This is racing!

Hehehe, know the feeling. Hope they don't go smoking too many motors :) I need some!

Moose has fresh carnage pics.

At least half the field has had various failures and burned things and broken things.

What amazes me, is walking around the motoGP pits foe the gas bikes also shows blown motors and broken parts and charred smoked things and half disassembled bikes laying everywhere, and they are million dollar raceing efforts!

Oh well. They also have some insane budgets too

I never had an issue with a Joby.

Since I've smoked about 20 electric motors and who knows how many gas engines I've blown up, it just feels like racing to me.

If you're not breaking and blowing things up, you're building/riding commuters instead of race vehicles.

my bad, you switched it out at the last minute, iirc. but ya, if you're not breaking things, you're not pushing hard enough, lol. hey, speaking of ac-50's there's a new post with one for sale.

ptd wrote:any new pics of YOUR bike?

Yes, like 10 of them in this thread.
It's a superbike, NOT a bicycle. The TTXGP does not let bicycles into the race. I was going to use it as a pitbike, but didn't want to have 2 bikes to have to charge and bother with, so I took my GSXR-1000, rode with a buddy, and we both got pulled over and ticketed for doing 88mph (they should have given me a medal for going so slowly) at the same time. lol

ptd wrote:what'd you do about the rear tire? is this new rider a jockey type? all of 120lbs soakin wet kinda thing?

This is a superbike running a Pirelli supercorsa soft-compound #2. The bicycle tire I shredded at laguna before was on my bicycle (which now run motorcycle (scooter) tires.

The rider is 175#, and an experienced professional superbike rider with a championship or two under his belt, and a lover of electric motorcycles.

ptd wrote:63 mph avg?, that's about 25% increase from last time.

No, it's 89mph average if you do a 133.7sec around Laguna.

ptd wrote: well done. what was the new top speed?

115mph, but we've taken it entirely apart to swap motors to try and stop getting controller issues that we were plagued with in our last session.

Great pics, Luke.
Mission raised the bar to say the least. It's awesome for the industry that theyre only 10 seconds behind the gas bikes, but it still hurts to get owned like that... We'll see what happens on race day, but as of now it looks like the only battle will be for second place.

Mission dropped my jaw. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the lightning bike accelerating SOOO hard down the straight, like a freaking rocket compared to all the other bikes, yet Mission would come back around like 10-15sec head of them every lap!!! I was blown away by how well they have that setup working! It's fun to be pitted next to them, good guys.

If you look carefully at that last pic, it's Motoczyz, and they couldn't stand the cheasy feel of all electric bicycle throttles, so they bought the best cable throttle money can buy, and ran it out to a cable throttle wheel (double cable push-pull), and then mounted the wheel on the shaft of a pot to be the e-bikes throttle. Seems like a lot more mechanical systems to go wrong (and they were tinkering with it).
