Luke go for it your enthusiasm is amazing, I'm always rooting for the underdog. Your dedication to the Angi motor is confusing from a guy who usually tells it like it is. I know you are doing the best with what you have to work with.
I'm sure if you have your way, you'll be using a Remy motor or UQM motor or equivalent next year.

Thank you Mark. :-) We aren't running an Agni though! We are running a DIY BLDC motor that has to stay confidential, but no Agni's in our pit. The teams from Europe are running them, and a number of others though.

Steady Mark, the Agni is a fine motor, and it will be a good few years before any other single motor manufacturer mounts up as many race wins as Agni's have in the last 3 years racing;)
Mazda MX-5. 300KW power. Soliton 1 controller, 11" Kostov motor, 20KW/H Turnigy Lipo for 60-100 miles range. 120mph top speed.
Hudson Kindred Spirit 3 wheeler. Twin Agni setup, 300KG 80KW. 100mph top speed (maybe more, but no-one has the guts to try!)
Aprilia RS125, Agni motor, 600A 96v Kelly controller, 6kw/h Turnigy pack.

I sadly have to agree. The pack of double Agni bikes are lapping faster than us, and while they have smoked motors in every heat, they haven't had a bit of controller issues to deal with, and its easy peasy to swap motors, but a PITA to fix and deal with a plague of controller faults that all the brushless teams deal with on top of smoking motors.

I wonder why motocyzsz has their rear shock mounted above the battery box.... I guess there was no other place to put it with the motor in front of the rear swingarm. That must be some crazy linkage the the swingarm!!! Try to snap a few more pics of that set-up if you have the minute to...

Also is that a carbon-fiber rim??? Or what? I can't figure it out...

I guess next year is now, again best of luck, I'm sure doing a Inhouse designed BLDC motor with your expertise at the helm will make Zero a winner in the long and short term. You now have my respect, you always did in reality.

Jozzer I mean no disrespect and yes the Angi is a fine motor and has won many races but the current crop of bikes using Remy and UQM motors, are amazing, it will be hard to compete. The bar has been raised and I'm guessing this is why TTXGP is going with Brammo. Can Brammo deliver a six speed race level drivetrain by next year???

There is something to be said for brushes. Its damn cheap to swap brushes or even motors every heat and have something smooth and simple to control.

But, obviously the ultimate path is brushless. It looks like it takes a $20,000use rhienhart motion controller and $6,500usd for setup/tuning to get a controller that works.

Sadly just like last year it looks like Motoczysz passed Lightning on the last lap. I see a big rivalry forming there.

Luke, Are the brushed motor so fast to replace?

I mean.. normally they must have a little burn in to let the brush track perfectly to the comutatior before pushing 100% max current right?

That's why we take prepared motors to the track Doc, just the same as an ICE engine that needs running in...you don't do that on raceday:D

Great photos. Good to see a larger turnout of Motos. Won't be long before they get national TV attention, especially if they are allowed to run with the Gassers. 8) 8)
