Great find! Interesting how they designed it, really pretty simple! Makes me want to try and build something similar!
Power is a fascinating thing, the more you have, the more you want, but the real power is having the restraint not to use it all at once...............Um...Yeah..

The harder you work.....The luckier you get!!

Since I started my own business in may, I asked bosch for a chance to get my hands on the edrive. I'd like to use it for tadpoles and recumbents.
BTW it delivers up to 625W and since it's an 3 phase motor it can be tuned for sure with a different controller/battery.

I'd also like to build a mtb with it, but I'm no framebuilder. Hillclimbing seems pretty easy with it. :D

Sale decisions in progress. See Announcements.
Top 5 threads in General Discussion on ES sale.
Also, top 5 threads in any of the ES categories.

Update for Monday 7:30 pm PDT

justin_le wrote:To keep people in the loop, the agreement has been signed and most of the transfers completed, we have the endless-sphere.com domain now. However, the transfer of the actual database and hosting account won't be able to finish until tomorrow. After that is completed then the deal can be officially declared 'done' and we will make a formal announcement letter.

There were lots of people who made the salvaging of ES possible before it went to the dumps. Methods, BigMoose, Luke, Fetcher etc. all deserve huge thanks and I'd especially like to thank GreenMachine who worked furiously on backup plans should the primarly deal fall through. It's been suggested several times that I contact Mike Keefer about arrangements going forward and trust that I haven't been ignoring that, just rather swamped right now.

Justin

PS, Ishikawa, nice to see you here and your 20 year old titanium electric trike rocks in all its hacked together glory, even with the discolored weld joints! It's a museum piece keeper for sure.

OnBikeX posted this German-language Youtube video on Sep 15, 2011 about the Bosch system:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_sEtV7XCh4

The caption to the vid on YT reads:
In 2012 wird es den Bosch Motor für E-Bikes auch in der 45 km/h Version geben. Wir sprachen mit Julia Patzelt über die Vorteile des Bosch Antriebssystems und erklären, warum weniger oft mehr ist.

Which Google translates as:
In 2012, it will give the Bosch motor for e-bikes in the 45 km/h version. We spoke with Julia Patzelt about the advantages of the Bosch drive system and explain why less is often more.

It is here. The speed hack no longer seems to work. It would be nice if this system could be made faster. Bionic leg feel on your fast e-bike.

This system looks amazing! Besides buying a whole bike? I think one of the new 45-50 km/hr models would be some serious fun! :D

KTM is making a pretty sweet looking race version with it:

I love the extra torque, balance, weight reduction, efficiency, and gearing control of the mid-drive motors. But until this point haven't seen one that appears to be so stealthy, quiet, and durable. Building it right into the crank should afford some decent weight savings too.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Suppose you'd probably have to butcher one of these nice looking production bikes and customize a frame.... sounds like a lotta effort. Any idea what the motor/battery/controller setup is worth on these? Looks to me from some of these bikes they're not overly expensive.
