I have been converting Yuba Mundos for some time and have created a bunch of conversion parts.

Just going on the record for anyone considering these, I have these rear stainless torque plates installed on my V4 Yuba Mundo, and they are the real deal. Best torque solution I have ever used, on any of my bikes. You will simply not be able to find anything close to these in quality and functionality.

For starters. Also I need disk brake caliper mounts, that I will design today. Those will be much more like your tourqe plates. They should be easier than half inch steel machine work. I would be willing to pay shipment from OZ. Let me know what you8 think.
Update here's the caliper mount, not to scale, but measurements are good.

Regarding custom torque plates/arms/brake adaptors,

I can lazer cut from 0.5mm, 1.0mm 1.2mm 1.5mm 1.8mm 2mm,3mm,4mm,5mm,6mm,8mm,10mm mild steel.
I can lazer cut 1.0mm 1.2mm 1.6mm 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm,6mm stainless steel.
I can lazer cut 1.2mm, 1.6mm 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm aluminium

If you can provide a .dxf file from a cad program of the cut profile, perfect.
If you can provide a sketch with dimensions, i will create a drawing and send it back to you, you print it out on paper 1:1 scale and test it on your bike. Once happy I will cut.
$50 for me drawing up the part ready for the laser.

I will cut custom parts once a month, this way I can gather everones parts and cut them at once to obtain the best price. Usual custom torque arm $30 - $50. I will give you a cost estimate before cutting.

I will only do 2 dimension, eg what comes off the lazer, side holes or machined steps, counter sinc or counter bore you will have to have done locally. Atleast at this stage. Once you get into custom machining the price rockets up as does the risk of error.

I can have steel parts zinc plated.

If you do not have cad, make a cardboard cut out of the part, take a photo straight on, and label holes sizes and major dimensions. I can scale it and make a drawing.

If you have ooodles of money, I can build custom battery cases, racks, dash boards, frames, cnc aluminium parts, anything, but it will be super expensive as it takes lots of my time and I charge one trillion dollars an hour.

Also, open source rule, I can add you part to a library of files so others can use the file or have me cut a part.

Thanks Kiwi, I will convert the brake plate to metric, and reduce the thickness to match your specs. I will let you know when I can pay for your time. It may happen in two weeks, or a month later, but I NEED IT, so it is pretty much a given that you will hear from me soon.

I just put in an order for a Mundo V4 frame and am thinking about using the Nuvinci for this. Do you have an axle adapter for that?

kiwi, it is very cool of you to offer these. I don't have a yuba mundo but i wanted to give you a high five for bringing these suckers to market. Torque plates are a pain in the ass to get made and these are a good deal.

Now... for the sake of proper marketing.. could you put up a proper pic of these on a bike?

They look like this installed (obviously the nut etc. has not been put on yet in this photo). As you can see, the axle is stopped from turning either way, so it covers you for regen. I recommend using Nordlock washers though, I ended up getting those as the thrust of the motor can push the axle down/away from the drop out, but with nordlock washers on tight it is sweet):

Funny thing is I had designed the plates with help from Philistine before I had a bike to take photos! Now I have a V4, though I have lent it out allready. I actually have a bunch of adapters and a unversal torque arm for X5's and NC motors that I just need to make time to take photos! My camera is at camera hospital. When it comes back, lots of juicy photos of conversion parts.

Hi Kiwi. Is your updated Yuba Mundo v4 torque arm ready for action, or is the current version solid enough for the torque power of the X5404? I just updated my v2 to a v4 and I'm putting my shopping list together.


UPDATE - Ahh, I see those are only for the Nuvinci hubs. I'll PM you for the standard torque arms.

Hi,

Here are pictures of the adjustable and fixed nuvinci adapters for the yuba.

The set will come with inserts for the developer kit and the standard nuvinci hubs.

Yesterday mine showed up. They look great nice and thick , but the axle hole is to small. I can barely fit the tip
into the whole (Phillistine really ?) but with threads there is no way.

I sent kiwi the exact mm measurements.

Tried my 3525, 5404 and a 10t mac axle all the same ;(

Hi.

I grabbed another set from the same run, I got 10.00mm exactly and 14.26mm.
There is a bit of slag from the lazer on the inside of the hole on one face, you will need to file that out (if I didnt do that, sorry?)
Otherwise, ..thats odd.
Grab a small square file and run it over the flats, should fix it.
As long as you have only 14mm axles you should be ok. If its 16mm like the greyborg, we need to design yet another.

If you cant file a solution, then I will send you another.

Other measure is right around 14mm. Problem seems to be getting over the threads.
I have a 3525, 5404 and a 2 mac 10t's.

Nothing to file other then the flat surface. Did you measure just one random set or
the entire batch ? Will post pics tomorrow in the axle and from there will mail the set
back to you. They are sexy.

Sometimes the threads on the motor axle are cut after the flats, so the edge of the threads flares out beyond the 10mm pays to run a flat file on the axle flats too.

You are only 0.17 of a millimeter tight. A couple of strokes with a file and it will fit.
Please measure your axle with your digital caliper and show the results?

So this morning I used the only small file I had and tried to shave some down. The metal is just to hard I gave it
5 minutes couple on each side with no luck. I have 3 axles I can measure Ill do that when I get home today.

I agree on the one that's .7x I may be able to file some down , but the other one is even smaller.
