Yeah, Haven't heard from Laurie at all i hope he is well and up and e-biking again? That ditch sure looked alot deeper on Sunday than
i remembered it though, damn i wouldn't want to hit that at the speed he did on my bike, i would be dead for sure!

Do you reckon you had about 3km to and from Matt's place?

Glad to hear you got video of me chasing the birds, and hopefully the squawky little f*ckers will think twice before they land near any ebike paths in the future.

i actually managed to get the ESC warm! and the motor too! they definately don't like low speed for extended periods, add in the hills ... if i didnt have a two speed
i would be up shit creek without a ESC fo-sho.. :: bows to the ThudMiesTER ::

Sounds like you need to invest in a FROCK motor, they don't complain at any speed!
I'm sure you will get used to it...

If you ask your mate Hyena, he would be quite happy to furnish you with one.

Hell, if i passed a hat around, the generous soul from ES would be sure to help you out with that

I didn't have to worry about my batts in the end, my final trip statistics were 36.4km travelled (I reckon 28km of group ride) using 10.5Ah (488Wh). My CA said 1 hour 34 minutes of travel at an average speed of 23.1kmh. I would be interested to hear other peoples stats too

Same here, only went through 7ah / 30km Mind you i pedalled my arse off too...
Two days earlier i churned through close to 13ah over the same distance on a very hilly dirt ride

It was a fun day boys. Great weather, pathways, company and scenery

I hope we can do it again soon!

I wonder how Matt is feeling after his jump gone wrong?

Maybe you can try and tow the wheel chair more upright (like retractable castors perhaps?) and it won't flick around so much.

Haha, my frockie only weighs 25kg, so I reckon that's a bit lighter than the HOBO cruiser isn't it? And since neither of our bikes have rear suspension it's the same amount of unsprung weight on the rear wheel ...

Looking forward to checking out the vids later too.

Unfortunately Matt forgot to bring the video he shot, with him during the week when he dropped by to pickup the motor mount I had bent for him, hopefully catch up with him again soon and grab it, I have re-encoded the footage I shot ready to go, want to mix Matts in wirh it before uploading...

Re: bike weight...my 50v cruiser is 40kilo take the stabilizers off and the heavy ass avtuator and it would be very close to your 50v frocked mtb, wanna talk about performance/speed differences now Simon? yes lets please, can we, pleeeease FYI iirc...Pauls 50v 500watt motered mtb is about 10kilo lighter than your mountain bike, both have similar output power, wanna talk performamce/speed difference between the bikes Simon? Please oh please Simon can we?!:yours is good for 60km/hr and able to climb the side of a house right? ....mrgreen:

Haha, not quite mate, maybe the side of a small caravan. My recollection is that Paul's bike is a similar weight to mine, maybe slightly heavier actually, but I stand to be corrected. If it really is 10kg lighter then I'm more than impressed

In any case this discussion has played out a thousand times here and I think both systems have their merits, although I don't expect you to concede any positive points on the frock side of the ledger

By all means the Queenslanders can use this thread, i just thought it might attract more attention this one seems somewhat dead bar a few regulars...We can promote it here and in a specific thread if they wish? better chance for more XXXX drinkers to see it perhaps? Was just a thought anyhoot

re: Paul, Nope 10ah, i have his first pack sitting in my workshop right now actually, it has one dead cell in it. Paul gave me the pack but i haven't got to dissecting it as yet, I'll swap out the cell for one of the spares i have here, be fine for the ol Blue cruiser along with a 1500watt cyclone motor ill shoe horn into it:-)

i did have a minor issue today though Simon.... Richard had the day off work so of course we went riding, as you do haha ...so, i thought i would 'show off' a little to passing cars in some gravel near Wally Deli ( being an ex-hillbilly, you should know it well ?! home of the "Wally Burger" hehee ) anywayz, was rolling along ~10km/hr gave it a fist full rear wheel starts spinning it hooks up REAL good, the loose top layer of gravel was dry judging by the way she spun initially, however the stuff below was damp from recent rain and the hookworms bit into it, my ev-grin quickly turned to a WTF grin when I hears a loud SNAP and loss of forward powered mojo Motors still spinning flat out (my immediate thoughts were "its not electrical so i have a better than average chance of fixing this myself " ) I wasn't sure at the time but had a pretty good idea it was just the #25 chain on the first gear sprocket (and it was, it snapped a link in half, was a lil loose fitting an idler to it to rectify this issue) was not a biggy second still was un touched and we continued on our way to the Backery in Kala sat down and had a fresh pizza roll and Ice Cofee before hitting the road, was a bit of a bummer more for Richard, with only second gear working i had to sit on ~50km.hr...poor ol Richard peaks at ~45km/hr so there he is pedalling like a mother fucker trying to keep up freakin' funny...i pulled over regular for him to catch up... We has something in the works to fix this though, i drew up this full scale size Monocoque frame we iz going to build up for him, fitting a 1200 watt cyclone through gear setup-->

That's where I got it from (hare and forbes machinery house on abernethy) , the x3 was $200 off. I know there are other larger models for not much more, but this one has a proven track record converted to CNC and there's a few good conversion kits to choose from:




I will be adding the fourth axis (a horizontally mounted rotary table), so that should do a lot of lathe tasks as well. I'm not a big fan of those combination machines that you linked to.

The larger one I like is the hm46

to spend on the 'one of each' i would like and for the piddly little jobs i would only likely end up
doing i think the larger of the combos like the 1200 dollar job i linked would be the shot...

Kim, I agree with you about doing production to really make CNC pay, but I want to do things that aren't possible with the manual versions, 3d modelling, complex curves etc.

I'm not planning any production work at this stage, but who knows what the future holds ...

unless you are making many multiples of identical parts, CNC will never pay for itself.
Infact you have to use any machine tool a LOT for it to even begin to pay its keep over sub'ing jobs out to a machine shop.

This is just a hobby lads ... I don't run a car (thanks to my frockie ), and some people spend many times this on their car, so I don't consider it a cost that needs to be paid back, at least not in dollars and cents

Have rebuilt two Aprilia Enjoys now to 1100 Watts and am loving both bikes - driven by brushed motors thru crank.
Bought a rear wheel cheap bafang hub recently to tinker with.
