2008 Daymak Austin caugfht fire and melted

Postby mbassmaster » Sun Nov 13, 2011 5:15 pm

Well I bought my Austin in 2008, replaced the main battery the following year and had to purchase a new one again for $388.00 1 month ago.. Just put it in the bike and drove it to my storage facility and didnt the bike ignite Under the seat and melt the rear quarter and all the wiring underneath the seat. So Im left with a bike thats partially melted. I am selling the 2 battery packs I have as they were untouched and the large floor one Brand new. Also have a helmet, small battery pack for under the seat that was at home charging, Charger and new pedals ( never used) for the 2008 Daymak Austin. The rest of the bike would be beneficial to anyone needing parts. Its blue and white and the seat is still new. Ive given up with Battery operated bikes. Interested in the parts Ive mentioned or the bike it self. e mail me at mbassmaster@hotmail.com

The guy does respond by email. He says he put away the batteries until spring, though. He may or may not be still willing to sell.

I've tried to research online to see what they are, but I think these are just SLA.
New to endless-sphere? Notice a lot of signatures recommending Ebike.ca? That's because it's the best place for a quality and manageable, (but still 'real'), first build. Justin is a solid supporter of electric bike development, and a good source of equipment.

My hat off a thousand times to the green people that effectively run this forum. The ES Mods are superb.

Reply from Mike:

Hi < well I got a BRAND new Battery from Daymak as the other one died. fully charged it and installed it into the floor of the bike, I rode it about 1 mile to take it to my folks to store in there shed and it started to smoke under the seat. I pulled over and seen a small flame around the wiring inder the side where ya put the key to open the seat and it melted the bike very fast. Insurance will only give me 6oo for the damaged bike and my insurance would go up so I just took the loss, Im going to sell the bike off for parts as only under the seat melted, everything else is ok. Ir was a shocker and Yes Im in Oshawa Ontario
If anyone needs good parts I can send ya a pic of the bike and youll see alot of it is still a one
