Thats a really nice looking bike, I guess from your blog that the latest batteries your are using are the Turnigy lipos? Your battery boxes from them look well designed so i would love to know if you have the batteries under slight compression, what C rating your max discharge is and are they puffing at all if you have them under compression?

I dont really want to think about it but roughly how much did it cost for the motor and controller of that size? But either way you electric bike probably isnt that much heavier then normal gas one and is a great example of one put together nicely

I know you said you moved up north somewere, so I'm sure we are going to be having a race swing by your area at some point. Wouldn't you know it, right after you leave Miami the AMA schedules races down there.

Nice man! That looks Brutal! What motor are you using? That thing has to weigh a ton... The Curtis controller looks like a beast as well!

Did you roll your own LT based BMS? Looks saweet!

Thanks! Yes, they are Turnigy Lipo's. The cells are under slight compression in their polycarbonate cases with a semi-rigid foam cell "suspension". The cells are 30C but I never get even close to that. 30C on my pack would be 1200a (40ah pack). My controller is 550a max and I charge at around 10a.

The motor and controller are common in the electric motorcycle world. Known as an AC-20. You can find the motor and controller "kit" online for around 3K. My bike is actually lighter than the ICE equivalent.

Cool, let me know if you want to work together at all. I designed BMS for military for a few years, and I'm really interested in improving the BMS options available today, which are pretty weak. LT (i think the 4356?) has some sweet parts. I've been leaning toward using the TI stuff, becuase some of them are perfectly simple, and have pretty nice charge pump drivers.

wow, that's alot of power.... 90hp and gobs of torque....
