Nice bike light on ebay 24-90V 12w 29.99U$

Postby parabellum » Sun Jan 01, 2012 12:08 pm

Have received 1 few days ago. Very nice focusing, 4x BrigeLux 45mil chips inside, stated 800lm but in real world looks brighter then my UltraFire C8 1300Lm CREE XM-L T6 LED Flashlight.

Do you have other bike lights to compare with such as MagicShine or ebikes.ca Lumenator?

Sorry, only UltraFire C8 1300Lm and homemade from 100W matrix light. (second one is really unfair comparison) :D

Just posted it as nice low budget, plug and play light, under 30U$.
Can make few shots compared to what I have, or alone.

Nice find, I've been spending a small fortune hooking up my lights with the 'correct' dc to dc converters. £20 all in is a good price.

Do you feel one does the job or should a fella order 2 while he is at it?

nice find I am interested also - especially since it takes such a wide range of voltage.

Love to hear how they work for you.

I feel pretty confident riding 60-70kmh at night but more light does not hurt at all.
The light is feed 13V after the step down module. Thinking to take few for my car and other bikes.

Mounted on kind of E-moped up to 80kmh on 24s LiPo. Light connected to half of the pack. Upper light is a joke, handy because of key/light switch.

Does it have a switch built in? Great find! How do you think it would compare to the magic shine??

24s lipo..
4.2 volts x 24 cells = 100.8v

Anyway, excellent find.. would like to see pictures :)
Got 4 magicshines over here so i'm not biting on this one, but i'd like to recommend it to others.

If it can handle 90v it might be worth a try to run it on 100v.. would help a lot of the guys here who have 100v caps on their controllers who want to run 24s

If it's rated for 90v, it should be able to handle a little more without blowing up. If you are really worried about it, it should be possible to place a resistor in series to drop 10v or so to keep it in the specified range at the expense of dissipating a few watts of wasted heat.

Right, seller specified by PM not to try over 90V (originally 84 on the listing), I also think he knows a thing or two about. All the specs on the listing was posted after my "question list" PM, which was answered in few minutes with no note of doubt. He also gave me quick and reasonable response about other items I purchased.
Now, from other side :D , if limiting factor are caps and fets we all know they are usually standardized to 100V, but also some Chinese brand.

Will make some night pictures tomorrow evening. What is usually good picture to see the beam and focusing?

Sorry. Have no magic shine.

Must be a hell of cellphone charger to output 12W. Must be capable of >3A at 3.6-4.2V, right? Do you have any link?

In his description he talks of a "drive" I assume there is a separate driver box? If so how big is it and is there a pic possibly?

It's pictured within the item description. About half size of the light itself.

It is shrinkwraped and silicon sealed step down module, about 5x2x1cm.

Here are 3 pictures. Wall is 7m from the light/camera
1) Natural light conditions :D , it is night but we have street lantern on, on the right. Can not go anywhere in dark since controller on the moped is died.
Image
2)Ultrafire C8, XM-L T6 on board, little over 12W consumption, stated 1300LM. Very concentrated in 1 dot, uncomfortable on the road.
Image
3)Current ebay light. More dispersed light, in certain limits, but covers the road better IMHO. Have ridden with both to make this conclusion.

Not unexpected since the component (a national semiconductor 'simple switcher') is only rated for 60V max.
New evil decided - GNG offroad build on Craftworks DHR with 12S4P lipo. Aim - Light, balanced, powerful, able to climb a tree.
Project Vectrix restarted. Status - BMS + Charge control redesign (read faffing with batteries again)

Could one skip the step-down module if one already has a dc-dc converter putting out 12v?

*edit* duh, they have a basic 12v version:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/super-led-head- ... 256b0e718e

and another with hi/low/strobe :)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/led-head-light- ... 23183c5bba

although, the low setting probably still uses 12w and a resistor or something...would be nice to have a 8w/12w low/hi or something...
